IMO it's extremely unsafe to be messing around with this sort of stuff via mediums and divination and 'spirit guides' and so on.

"Turn away from danger, seek the Lord and pray"

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
Proverbs 3:5-7

It does not have to be a Christian understanding, but messing around with lower forces is the way to genuine mental problems, IMO

I think there is an astral realm, of thought forms and entities, mixing with the Earth surround, where 'ghosts' and earthbound souls are trapped. There is a universal subconscious, characterised by Carl Jung, IMO

The speed of thought is instant, across the universe.
How do you see our connection it that realm? thanks brian

I think that memories of past lives can in reality be the memories of trapped 'ghosts' and earthbound spirits, unable to rise away from the earth surround, bound by past trauma, and finding a host in living human beings 'open' to them. Not necessarily bad or evil.

The higher 'Christ' delivers people from these sorts of spirits and frees them. I mean the universal Christ, not the ordinary Christian understanding. It doesn't have to be the popular Christian understanding. It's the understanding of Christ casting out demons, imo

Just my own thoughts ..

RJM: Not sure why you feel this way. It develops an individual's discernment. As individuals we have to experience and decide for ourselves what our truth is. We all make choices and we learn from them; as a result our discernment grows, so does our connection with our higher power.

When I first began meditating in spring of 1997 I kept hearing the phrase "balance and harmony" in my head. No idea what it meant, but heard it in different meditations. I was in Merrillville, IN one day making sales calls.

I walked into a bookstore in the strip mall where I had lunch. In the religion/philosophy section was a book. Black cover red letters, "The Book of Balance and Harmony" translated by Thomas Cleary. I bought the book.

An example of being led and me getting out of my way ad listening.

thanks brian

How could that be a problem? Meditation and higher guidance? We seem to be talking across one another ...

Those who worship the gods go to the gods, and those who worship the ancestors go to the ancestors. Those who worship the lower spirits go to the lower spirits, but those who worship me come unto me alone.

He who offers to me with devotion only a leaf, a flower, a fruit or even a little water, this I accept from that yearning soul, because with a pure heart it was offered with love.

Bhagavad Gita 9:25-26

Sorry don't mean to confuse the conversation.

You said, IMO it's extremely unsafe to be messing around with this sort of stuff via mediums and divination and 'spirit guides' and so on."

I was trying to provide an example where spirit guides provided me with information that led me to discover things about myself I did not know, they shined a light on a path for me to learn about myself.

My wife is a gifted medium, my gift is not like hers. One of my guides is a Taoist Master, Master Chang. We shared a lifetime in China @ 600 CE. I was his student. He is beyond wise and knows my soul and exactly what I need to hear to guide me. thanks brian

I've had a lot of experiences with past lives and people I've known then that I have run across this lifetime. Remember where I come from and what I've learned was a huge blessing in my life. Running across and remembering experiences/people from past lives has afforded me the opportunity to remember those experiences and heal what I have carried with me since that time. In healing I can release that energy and no longer carry it with me. My connection with higher power, God, the universal mind grows stronger when I do this because the distortion grows weaker.

Thanks brian

When we recognize thoughts that come from within ourselves, that are not who we want to be, where do these come from?

Our thought contents comes from a lot of places - from something we read or heard somewhere but forgot, something we experienced or some intuition where we put 2 and 2 together unconsciously.

I'm not ruling out nonmaterial entities or spirits. They aren't the only possible source of thoughts we don't recognize, if they're a source at all.

I think there's something to be said for that - messing around with the unknown, really. Like if I were in a totally unfamiliar environment on Earth I'd want to be really careful with what I touched or tried to move around, out of normal caution in the unknown.

I do not go with that.

It is not instant. The speed of light or gravity is 300,000 km per second (299,792,458 meters per second to be exact).
"The Sun is typically seen on Earth about 6 minutes after it actually rises due to the time it takes for sunlight to travel to Earth and the effects of atmospheric refraction. This means we see the Sun's light slightly earlier than its actual position above the horizon." :)

None of us knows, speculation based/not based on experiences. Anything is possible. I think this is why we walk the path to learn. I do know we will find out in the end...

I've come here, this lifetime, with a lot of stuff in my basket to do. It's been very challenging at times, but rewarding because I've risen to the challenges I set for myself. I have learned it is best to "go there" even when you don't want to because what's on the other side is healing and good for me.

Take care. Brian

Wouldn't this include all faiths and philosophies and every conversation on these boards? None of this is scientifically provable. thanks brian
IMHO, Non-dual Hinduism (Advaita) and Buddha's original teaching have the least amount of 'supernatural', and match with science views.
Non-availability of evidence is an evidence (Skt: Pramana, Pali: paccayasaddha). Skt.: 'Anupalabhdi', Pali: anupalabbhā). Advaita considers it valid.
No one has proved the existence of God or soul in the last 10,000 years. :)

thanks for clarifying. I support your choices on your journey. We all must choose what we think is the right path and learn from the experiences it brings us. brian
