Had a quick exchange with InLove about The Goons, and as i said then, not quite sure how you could explain them.

This link:
GoonShowRadio
streams some live recording material, some of it is hard to hear, some of it sould rubbish if you don't know The Goons, but there's a few jems, and something of a taster, for those who listen.

IS THIS A METAPHYSICAL JOKE:
Scene:
Henry Crun and Minnie Bannister (a decrepit pair of geriatric lovers who live in sin in Minnie Bannister's bedsit) are sitting watching TV. There is a knock on the door.

Minnie: "There's someone at the door, Henry."
Henry (shouts): "Who is it?"
Voice: "It's me!"
Henry: "... It can't be me ... I'm in here!"

Okay, Thomas--I now have a good case of the giggles! I've been reading some of the scripts, but I still haven't been able to hear the theme song. I have some trouble linking to the BBC stuff sometimes, and I don't like it one bit, I'll tell ya! We recently upgraded some of our media services, but we are encountering some glitches here and there. Gotta make them fix it.

Anyway, my husband remembers a little about The Goons, so he was filling me in. Peter Sellers is a favorite of mine--I loved him in "Being There".

Is it a metaphysical joke? Depends on which side of the door you happen to be on, lol....

You don't know how hard it was last night for me to not start out on this exact same tangent when In Love said...(paraphrased) "If my first encounter with Jesus was what I read on this thread, I'd be likely to follow mee" I thought better, I've hijacked enough threads on my obtuse tangents that are often only funny to mee.
