Re: Banner add selling truth!!

Eh, they've been predicting the "end of times" ever since day one. Which probably is as it should be. That way everyone gets the same message ... i.e., "be prepared."

I don't look to dates, but I do look at trends. Anyone purporting to predict end-time dates should be widely scrutinized.

Having said that, the book claims that the U.S. is headed for it's demise within the next year upon the advent of WWIII. I don't know about that, but I fear the current trend that the U.S. is heading toward. We are in a recession where the rising oil prices is affecting not only the price of gas, but indirectly affecting food prices. I don't want to seem like a doomsdayist, but the Scriptures to predict that the world will experience economic collapse, followed by famine, disease, and death. Revelation 6:6 states, "And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine."

Just the other day was I saw this headline:

April 25, 2008] - UN SECRETARY-GENERAL CALLS FOOD PRICE RISE A GLOBAL CRISIS; BIOFUELS CONTRIBUTING TO FOOD SHORTAGES?; WSJ: AMERICANS SHOULD STOCKPILE FOOD - The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, addressed the issue of the rising costs of food, "This steeply rising price of food — it has developed into a real global crisis," (UN secretary-general calls food price rise a global crisis) Another United Nations official noted that the UN food agency, World Food Program, needs 755 million dollars to help offset the rise in food prices. (UN food agency needs hundreds of millions for hungry).

Already this past week has seen a near panic in rice buying. I went to the store the other day and all the 20 lb bags of rice were gone. At the local Oriental store, rice was selling a $20 a bag (normally about $7-8). My wife's family in the Philippines is telling us that they are withholding rice for purchase due to high demand.

Everything affects everything. It is especially evident in the world economy. I just hope that whoever's being greedy with the oil prices will have some sense to see how much it is hurting our economy. Bring the oil prices down, please.
