Francis goes green

bah, its a killer, Tao... I've dug it all over, and sprayed weedol, and left it for four weeks, as advised... went back- ahhhh! now I have to start all over again...

its all a learning curve, though...

I have put in... potatoes, leeks, aubergines, and cucumbers, so far... have lettuces and rocket and such in propagators, should go in in the next two weeks...

I have blisters on the palms of my hands which bleed, and nettle stings in places I'd never seen before!

yet.. in a curious way... I like it!

thanks all, for your advice and tips- any more, I'm always grateful!

lol @ the blisters n nettle stings :D
Nothing worth having comes easy, or so the saying goes.
I have already cropped my first lettuce and spinach, my early potatoes are 3' high and beginning to flower.. strawberries are in heavy flower with lots of fruit on them. Everything except melons is doing splendidly.
Going to the commercial vehicle auctions tomorrow to buy a van, I am going to start gardening for a living... amongst other things.

good to hear about the gardening from elsewhere; its pissing down here [so no grass cutting] phew!

as usual am late with my own stuff, have only got teeny weeny leeks and peas cos l started late and have only just sowed carrots [in a tub of all things], the only thing harvested has been rhubarb so endless crumbles, with cream, custard or icecream; and herbs for pasta dishes. we're about a month behind and had a slight frost the other night, ridiculous.

that hemp and broom wine went down well, l sold a couple of dozen bottles at a festie which paid petrol costs getting there.

a good tip - surgical gloves [unless youre howking oot nettles!] for those more delicate and sensitive moments...

also, harvest the seeds for next year..peas that are too hard..coriander etc

have a happy and blistering summer!
