Sacred Magic?

Christianity prefers miracles over magic and tends to demonize magic as egoistic. But my train of thought recently of seeing God more as being (verb form) or Beingness requires that prayer be conceptualized as the channeling of God’s Being, since discrete acts are our specialty and curse (in the physical dimension of separate objects and limited time). By saying God answered our prayers, what we are really saying is that we managed to channel the Source of goodness and beauty into a world of particular things and events. Since the prayer involves going deeper than the regular in-the-world self, the answered prayer seems like it was an act of something or someone beyond. We don’t know our deepest self that connects like Aspen tree roots with a spectral and/or mind-like substrate of overall reality. So we insist on miracles and avoid attributing the answered prayer to “magic.” But if we manage to operate or even “originate” (transformative operations) from a sufficiently deep zone, then we channel God’s goodness and love into the specific form (or approximation thereof) of what our hearts desire. If this successful channeling comes from a deep enough zone, it is sacred magic, as opposed to egoistic magic formulas and tricks.
When I was vibing on spirits out west in the United States during a vacation, I was deeply moved by a tribute to a local boy who drowned in rapids (at Rapid City) while chasing geese. Still vibing deeply as I exited the park through a turnstile/gate, a large Cottonwood tree fell to the ground. It was a calm sunny day. I attributed the action to my somehow disturbing the underlying energetic field beneath the surface objects and events. It was more like accidental magic than a miracle that God would need to perform. Yet it may have also been part of a foretelling of the drowning of my next door neighbor soon after we got home from vacation. Bill died in a riptide while swimming in the Atlantic Ocean during his own family’s vacation. Just like the boy in Rapid City who died while playing, having fun. The deeper zones appear to transcend space and time. Space was transcended when I somehow affected the tree over there across the park. Time was transcended when I glimpsed a future drowning of a dear friend.
“Sacred magic” is not inconsistent with the Biblical passage: Ask and you will receive, knock on the door and it will be given to you.
