Viswa kept reporting his own posts, and finally emailed the admin contact, asking to be removed, along with all his posts and threads.

'Amir Alzallam was banned, and afterwards emailed the admin contact demanding all his posts be removed, or he would sue.

I agree that deleting a person's content can make nonsense of some threads where they participate. But apparently new European data protection regulations require us to comply.

Does anyone know more about it?

The content has been removed from view, not permanently deleted, so it can easily be restored to the boards

I see .. I wasn't criticising, just wondered.
Sometimes it feels like the world is becoming more barmy .. or is it just me.
I guess women playing football and men entering beauty contests is quite normal. ;)
 
It would be interesting to know more about this, imo.
For instance, can a person demand to have all their content deleted from Twitter or Facebook?
To do so makes nonsense of discussions they participate in

For now I have restored the deleted posts to their original position in the affected threads, but with the actual content replaced by 'Reply removed at user's own request' in order to try to preserve the continuity of those threads. I have not restored Viswa's thread, however, pending better legal advice
