Agreed . . . there is a huge difference between religious indoctrination and enabling critical thinking with our children
 
I haven’t formally taught any specific religion, but I’ve always felt it’s important for kids to be aware of different beliefs. It helps build understanding and respect. If they ever ask questions, I try to answer honestly or explore it with them.
 
I didn't teach her anything. I'm not really teacher material, nor knowledgeable enough about other faiths to do so. I doubt she'd have been interested, she's not religious at all. Which is fine.

In this world I have seen learning about other religions, other ethnicities, traveling, attending the services in other temples hugely valuable in my own development and would like to think that exposure may help us get closer to world peace someday.

I'm in agreement with this sentiment.
Unfortunately, the world also consists of many "hawks". :(

It seems that international policing has become too political .. us v. them .. fear mongering.
Police forces world-wide have to fight against financial fraud .. robbery .. burglary.
It's no different on an international scale .. nations cheating others.

Our children were taught the oneness of all religion and were exposed to many quotes from each of those Faiths in the light of the Oneness of God.

Yet it is more than words that shape their future in the younger years, a strong foundation in that Oneness needs to be witnessed within a strong and loving family unit, otherwise what we teach will not have the impact that it should. Each individual has their own mind and young minds soon find the difference between words and actions not based in those words.

Mature loving family units whos actions refelct their words, are the most successful in passing on all the good they wish for their children.

Our children have struggled, as the younger versions of my wife and I were not mature in what we needed to face.

It seems to me... that it is mostly those that stayed in their valley, town, city, country ...those that didn't travel and didn't experience "other" only had local prejudices to base the outside world on that hold onto that. Of course many a person has told me they traveled the world...but it was with the military.where.they were taught the other side.were animals (easier to kill.that way) and their prejudices were reinforced.

As a baha'i does that really constitute teaching them about other religions as being unique and different and accepting of other beliefs.....or is that just Baha'i?

I would offer you get to see it and accept our oneness, as you so choose.

Every snowflake is unique and different, but all part of the one snowstorm.

Every human is unique and different, but all part of the one Humanity.

I think you understand my answer. As no doubt, there is only One God. Then logically any religion from God, teaches that Oneness.

The rest are in the minds of men and it is in God I trust. These other God's are just pieces of the whole, either based in truth, or our own vain imaginings.
