Ach but if ye have enough techken, ye can thwart them! I make sure everything on my Kindle has a copy on my pc. Requires space on the laptop but a book file is generally tiny. Even huge multi-series books wont be more than a couple MB max. So even if they kill it on the Kindle you've got it backed up to put back yourself. The software needed for this is completely free and open-source.

From top to bottom are (1) Apple-glazed patissaria, (2) Hot honey pizza balls and (3) "Sweet Squeakers", white cheddar cheese curds coated in funnel cake batter, deep-fried, coated in a lemon whipped cream and a berry sauce...

All three are off my diet!

Ye gods, @Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine ! Why torture me so?! Here's me becoming aware of the culinary vices of the West but unable to leave the premises and also aware that Zomato can't deliver Western foods to my location ever since KFC closed and Pizza Hut refuses to deliver cos of distance....and you send these divine visions of angels in consumable form!

The food there is so yummy! But also so expensive! I took my wife and daughter to the Minnesota State Fair a few years ago. The food for the day cost over $200.
