🤣 🤣 🤣

Just put 'The Battle of Watarigawara' in my search engine and was told, by engine AI:
'There was no battle known as the battle of watarigawara'

To which my reply is ... the bloomin' is! Just cos you don't know about it!

So now I have to fins a reference in Japanese, and put that in, to get Japanese documents, and pick the bones out of them.

Saying I asked ai actually doesn't mean anything at this stage, there are hundreds if not thousands of ai...each is a specific tool. One maybe a ser of screwdrivers, if you want it to work ya gotta use a flat, phillips, square, star, hex or it wont work! (Will get it wrong)

If you want history, what language, what era, what country?

One must know which part of the internet it is researching and when the last time it was updated (it will tell you)

You also can ask it what you want to know about and which ai does it know about that will be the best for the task.

You also need to tell it to do deep research, ask it to verify, give you links to its sources. Ask it for corroborating info, contrary info!

It is an artificial intern....it can't get you coffee yet but if it could you would need to tell your intern what kind of coffee, how much cream, how much sugar, how much coffee, what temperature and to put it in a cup with a handle from the cupboard in the breakroom.

We are currently dealing at baby stages...Expect to change the diapers and get pooped on!

It was no big deal, Wil ... just a light-hearted comment.

At least two people were killed when a driverless car hit them at (reletively) high speed (it was a Tesla IIRC...) The "passenger" (allegedly) overrode the program after several "demerits" (I've been keeping up with the case if/when I can find info about it.)

Oh, and the "passenger" is/was "able-bodied" from what I understand.

Well, I hope that it doesn't "get it wrong" if/when driverless vehicles become common. 😑
It absolutely will...but it will make a lot less mistakes, cause a lot less accident, improve traffic flow, cause less injuries, reduce energy consumption and kill a lot less people than human drivers....by far....once the initial learning curve is over.

Can you post a link to an article?

Do you trust that assessment?

I think it would make more sense to have AI as driver assistive technology, to prevent accidents.
I'm not thrilled with AI having a learning curve and killing a bunch of people needlessly while it learns.

It's not for me .. I prefer rail for automation .. like trams and underground systems.

I don't trust complex technology in charge of a steering wheel at 60mph.

The **Battle of Watarigawara** was a significant conflict that took place in **1184** during the **Genpei War**, a series of battles between the Taira and Minamoto clans in Japan. This battle is particularly notable for its strategic implications and the role it played in the eventual downfall of the Taira clan.

## Background
The Genpei War was primarily fought between the Taira clan, who were the ruling power at the time, and the Minamoto clan, who sought to overthrow them. The conflict was marked by a series of battles, with both sides vying for control over Japan.

## Key Events
- The battle occurred near the Watarigawara area, which is located in present-day **Kagawa Prefecture**.
- The Minamoto forces, led by **Minamoto no Yoshinaka**, engaged the Taira forces, who were commanded by **Taira no Kiyomori**'s descendants.
- The Minamoto clan utilized effective tactics, including surprise attacks and superior mobility, which allowed them to gain the upper hand.

## Outcome
The battle resulted in a decisive victory for the Minamoto clan. This victory was crucial as it weakened the Taira's hold on power and contributed to the eventual Minamoto dominance in the Genpei War. The conflict ultimately led to the establishment of the Kamakura shogunate, marking a significant shift in Japanese governance.

The Battle of Watarigawara is often remembered for its role in shaping the political landscape of Japan during the late 12th century and is a key event in the history of samurai warfare.

I didn't know anything about that battle and it is not that important to me...

Unfortunately the option is human drivers continuing to make mistakes.

I prolly wont be alive when our cars talk to each other, know where everyone is going and the fast line is just a car centipede flying bumper to bumper while the slower lanes are used for exiting and moving into the centipede with gaps automatically opening so another can slip in.

Getting into you car or rv like a cruise ship and just sleeping, working, or partying till your next destination

I agree with you that rail is much easier to be run by ai than a car because it's environment is less complex.
I would say that driving a car on the motorway is a lesser challenge than driving in a village or even in a city. It's a very complex decision if you see children playing or running near the street whether they may be running on the street or not. It also needs a lot of experience to recognise whether a person intends to use a zebra crossing.
There are even easier things that are difficult for an AI. I remember the a car that read the speed limit signals - it suddenly showed 40 km/h (25 mph) on a motorway. We can easily understand that the sign referred to the way out...

Sadly, not the Watarigawa I was looking for – 'my' one took place in the 16th century.

Having AI ASSISTANCE could help, but I want humans to be able to override it when IT makes mistakes
Sometimes passengers can't override AI "drivers" (Molly Burke, a blind social media personality, and Ross Minor, a blind video gaming accessability advocate/public speaker, spring to mind, then there're people like me who can see but not well enough to drive...)

Just a reintroduction to both Molly Burke and Ross Minor (trigger warning: gun violence mentioned):
