Kali Yuga and the End of Days

I believe these are just stories made up to satisfy the psychological need of people to understand the origin and ultimate future of humanity. There's the Nordic story of Ragnarök. eudaimonia, Mark

    Consciousness

Quick comment: this seems like a invalid separation between awareness and mind-body. I would say instead that I am a mind-body that is aware, not that I am some mysterious "Awareness" in and of itself separate from mind-body. I can very easily be an "object" and aware at the same time...

Your beliefs: what are they REALLY?

Belief-o-matic does not tell me what I am REALLY. :) eudaimonia, Mark

    Part of a whole?

Putting aside the question of whether or not "God" exists, I agree that we need to understand reality as it is, and since we understand "truths" in our own individual way, with our own capacities, from our own vantagepoint, etc, we may have our own subtly different truths that nevertheless...

What is the Meaning of Life?

First, let me state that I think that meaning implies plans and purposes, and these must be chosen in order to be plans and purposes. Therefore, the meaning of one's life is the result of personal choice. However, I think it is reasonable to speak of naturally appropriate purposes -- those...

    Loss of belief/loss of faith

Yes, since a belief may be held tentatively, and faith cannot. Yes, if the belief is mistaken. By "faith" I see you mean a kind of acceptance of reality as is -- perhaps also a lack of resistance to the future as it unfolds. This is an odd way of speaking of faith, since faith typically...

    The Soul

I'm not a Platonist of any sort -- I'm much more of a grounded Aristotelian, and a metaphysical naturalist. Would you please explain what is discussed in those quotes in plain language? I find them difficult to penetrate. eudaimonia, Mark

"For one human being to love another"

I disagree. Loving another is one of the easiest of tasks. Creating values (such as when the Buddha became awakened and explained it so well) is more difficult. eudaimonia, Mark

    Religion Survey (for me)

    1. Q - a nontheistic philosophical path called Eudaimonism. Call me an atheist instead, if you prefer. 2. 3 - I find it difficult to imagine similarities between Christianity and Confucianism. 3. 3 - Same for Hinduism. 4. 1 - Possibly Buddhism, but I don't know how to explain Zen samurai...

Things that make you go hmm !

It's very simple. Men own all the nuclear weapons, and some of them are aimed at the chocolate fields. If women rebel, no more chocolate! eudaimonia, Mark

Is God A "white Man" In A Robe?

Yes, and his name is Zeus. At least, I'll bet that's where that image comes from. eudaimonia, Mark
