Christians converting to Islam and Judaism

Hmmm... apparently I'm too late with this, as the original poster has declared he wouldn't respond to this thread anymore. Maybe, if you wanted to hear from non-Christians, the Comparative forum might have attracted a broader audience? In any case, I am a former Christian who has turned to...

    The Golden Rule

9Harmony, thank you for this! It's wonderful to see all these quotes together like this, emphasizing that we really are all travelling the same path. And seattlegal, those African indigenous qhotes are beautiful! May I humbly suggest that for Wicca, rather than the Rede, the Threefold Law may...

    Christians and Magic/Harry Potter

Uh, no. Not in Wicca, at least. Forcing anyone or anything to do anything is a great big no-no in Wicca, and will inevitably turn around and bite you in a big way. A spell is a means to focus your energy and your will in order to change the circumstances of your own life. In fact, most...

    Wicca - Too Many Rituals?

Maybe this is already cleared up to everyone's satisfaction, but I'd just like to add my two cents. I think what Barefootinthegrass (cool name) is saying here is basically that we are all imperfect. Just like in Christianity there are rules for behaviour, but no one lives up to them perfectly...

    Christians and Magic/Harry Potter

 Well said, InLove - and I'm glad to see you're still around, albeit about as sparsely as I am. I hope things are going more easily for you.

    Christians and Magic/Harry Potter

Thank you for this post, Q. In fact, that's how I look at it too - also within my faith. Whenever I do ritual or spellwork, I see the results of that as coming, ultimately, from God. For me, magic or ritual is a modified form of prayer.

    Wicca - Too Many Rituals?

"Fluffies" or "Fluffy Bunny Wiccans" are those who (are perceived to) have a superficial knowledge of/approach to Wicca, gleaned mostly from watching "Charmed" or "The Craft" or some such, or those who think that if they wear a pentagram and black, flowing clothes then they are Wiccan, or those...

    The Test...

I got the first and fourth questions right, for the bonus question I thought, "Why would a blind man need to buy a pair of sunglasses?"

    Which religion do you follow?

I'm Pagan more than anything, was raised very Christian, considered myself a Taoist for a while, am heavily influenced by Hinduism.

    my life and this forum

Wow, what an honor, that your 500th post is in my thread! :) I agree, presser_kun and rdwillia! So, Brian, is it later yet? Is it later now? How 'bout now? And now? Is it later now? Is it later now? How 'bout now? Please don't take CR away!

    my life and this forum

Hi, everyone - hmm, how can I say this without sounding whiny or self-important? I haven't been on here much lately - I lurk whenever I can, but that's not often. I'm in my final year of the Masters' program at the conservatory, and free time is practically non-existent. I love this forum and...

    Santa Theory

Made famous, I'll buy...but I was under the impression that Irving used those names because they were already common nicknames for the devil in New England. Of course, maybe that's just exactly what he wanted us to think.

    Santa Theory

Just remembered when I read this, in parts of the US Satan is called "Old Nick" or "Old Scratch" - anyone have any ideas where these names come from? Does it have any connection at all to St. Nick/Santa?

What song is going through your head right now?

Hmm, oddly enough, the title is "All the Things She Said". And now I've got it, too.

    Halloween and All Saints Day

:D Hah, Bandit, you got me! The first one I've seen - it really did air as a commercial in Germany - but I fell for the second one hook, line, and sinker!

    Something special for halloween

...which is exactly how I define magic.:) Halloween is definitely the right time to try communicating with spirits or doing a past life regression, as wiccans believe the veil between the worlds is thinnest then. I've never done any communicating with spirits (at least not intentionally)...

    Halloween and All Saints Day

Yeah, it's a big holiday in Mexico - Dia de los Muertos (sp?), which means Day of the Dead, and it's a day of celebration for the whole family. Seriously - though I'm not sure if the joyousness stems from the idea that you get to be around your lost loved ones again for a day, or if people...
