Yes Matthieu Ricard has been kind enough to help Dr Davidson along with his research. These folks including people like Paul Eckman, Daniel Goleman along with HH Dalai Lama, have been delving into the human mind and heart mapping out the rhythms of the mind during meditation and mindfulness...
I couldn't agree more. Owning our own stuff is something so few people understand. Thanks for the input on the website. Once I get enough feedback I can begin to transform it and let it evolve. I had hoped to just put enough to get peoples attention and then direct them to more information. You...
Fair enough :)
The website is just my interpretation of emotional intelligence aimed at the average guy. On it's pages I try to give a short elevator speech about what EI is, and isn't, why you need to know, how you can benefit and what are some effective ways to cultivate these core...
Hey Nick,
I'm using a model based on the research of Dr. Ruven Bar-on which lists five basic competencies. Those are all listed on the website, but the two I find most important for men are self-awareness and empathy.
Having a vocabulary with which to express emotion is very important as you...
Thank you Wil, for sharing something so intimate. You show great courage and openness, qualities I find very admirable. In the journey of our humanity it is nice once and a while to see a little sparkle in a friend.
Hi donnann,
Would you be open to a little feedback on your argument? Please PM me if you'd rather, but I think I can help you articulate your message a bit, and you might find it helpful.
If not, please carry on, and forgive the interruption.
Nicely said. The wife and I watched a documentary the other night about Dr. Amit Goswami. Have you heard of him? He makes a compelling argument that the idea of God (consciousness that precedes manifestation of matter) and science are not diametrically opposed.
I'm sorry to hear that, it must have been hard for you to take, and a little confusing too. I think Nick has a good suggestion, but maybe it would help to get a little clarity on your own thinking around this? Maybe take it into meditation for a bit to come up with a skillful way to respond?
An important point of view. Those left behind then are considering their own pain more than the person who was driven to suicide by their own pain. So where does the selfishness stop? Where does it begin?
Do you see the inherent difficulty with a linear black and white approach to the problem?
Okay Snoopy, other than running across yet another case of confirmation bias what was salient about this experience for you? That is to say, was this offensive to you or did you feel put upon by this person?
I would think it would be annoying at best.
You must understand ACOT, you seem like a sweet person, but this is a contextual logic, and the context is hubris. Very often when a person has an oceanic experience they feel as if they have reached the top. They become delusional.
This is why you may have heard it said that "...if you meet...
I don't mean to make light or anything, but this made me smile. I thought of a "flash meditation" like a normal flash mob where at a certain cue everyone starts to do... nothing. :p
I think you explain that quite well. I agree you cannot cut life in half and only call part of it holy. The term "spiritual" is kinda funny that way. As if you could really separate spiritual and not spiritual. What I have found is that there is a complete world within the obvious that needs...
