On Yoga The Architecture of Peace--Trailer

Yoga teaches the only thing that is not maya (illusion) is our Soul. This is the base, located in the area of our heart. Mind, intellect, ego would be secondary of importance and that which stays with us during rebirths--along with our Soul.

    The Yoga Path

The posts here seems to be focusing mainly on meditation. Yoga is much more than that as I mentioned in the introduction post. There is MUCH focus on the yamas and niyamas as told by Pantajali at this site: https://www.expressionsofspirit.com/yoga/eight-limbs.htm Yoga is a tiny word with a...

    The Yoga Path

A devout Yogi should be vegan as Ahimsa is the first Yama (tenet). I'm sure there are many differences, but I don't know a lot about other eastern religions. In Yoga, there are no rules of rituals like in Hinduism and other religions.

    The Yoga Path

Prayer and meditation in Yoga. Prayer is talking to God. Meditation is hearing God's reply.

    The Yoga Path

Maybe it's a branch of Buddhism? It doesn't sound like Yoga at all.

On Yoga The Architecture of Peace--Trailer

Awesome documentary on Yoga (currently available on Amazon Prime). On Yoga: The Architecture of Peace follows photographer Michael O'Neill as he talks to the great Yoga masters in India, Tibet and New York. It shows a lot of Asana poses, but also many lengthy discussions on the philosophy of Yoga:

    The Yoga Path

Yes, right. I don't know about chakra meditation. Doing chakras never worked for me. Even though Yoga is complex, I try to make it simple for me. In Yoga, if you just love--see others as God--that alone will allow one to get deep and close to God (although I do a lot more in Yoga actions than...

General Introduction - What is the Hare Krishna movement?

I have several books on Sri Prabhupada and a documentary about the Hare Krishnas. I also subscribe to a Hare Krishna magazine. They have a lot of the same teachings as the Yoga philosophy, especially regarding the Bhagavad Gita--which is the main book read for many Yogis, including me. My...

    The Yoga Path

Most people who do those Yogas tend to do silent meditation or chanting (as well as the other things I mentioned), along with Jnana Yoga. Karma Yoga is the one most different from the rest, with less emphasis on meditation and chanting, as Karma is really about interacting with others in Seva...

    The Yoga Path

I like to start off by saying the Yoga path is a philosophy. Yoga means union in Sanskrit, specifically a path of deeper union with the Divine/God. Yoga has been popularized as just poses, stretches or exercises; it's much more deep and complex, although the poses, called Asanas, are a very...

    A Yoga Forum?

Thank you so much! You mean the first post being an introduction? I have only been a Yogi for 4 years so I'm not an expert (yet), but I have some essays from my blog I can dig up and combine to come up with an introduction.

    A Yoga Forum?

I've noticed there isn't a forum area for Yoga. I'm sure most people here know that yoga isn't just asana poses; it's a philosophy, so I think it would be a good idea to include Yoga somewhere for deep discussion, plus maybe educating some people who didn't know Yoga is deeper than how...

    Jesus vs the Church

You will find devouts, and the not-so-devouts not only in the churches but also people who are of a philosophical faith, or anything that has certain rules by how it's defined (Like veganism; there are some people who say they are vegan but still eat meat during the holidays, and many more...

    New to Interfaith

I don't have an official guru, but I consider her my (online) guru. I became most enlightened 4 years ago while listening to one of her satsangs.
