    Jesus

My understanding that the Yeshu mentioned in the Talmud is not the Jesus of Christianity; others disagree. So I guess to be correct, one should say there is a divergent opinion on whether or not Jesus is referred to in the Talmud.

    Torah-observant Christian?

Re: messianic jews Oh, I fully agree that Christianity for gentiles is not avodah zara; however for Jews it is. Sorry I did not make myself more clear... I also agree with you there, and is an issue that should be dealt with, instead of being ignored.

    Torah-observant Christian?

Re: messianic jews They are Jews only if their mother was or if they are a convert. No such thing. See 1) above as to who is a Jew. These are called "Christians". Doesn't matter. The have transgressed into avodah zara. The vast majority of Messianics are not Jewish. A large percentage of those...

    Is it allowed?

Correct, it is the expected and polite thing to do. A Jew should always wear one when in shul. Non-Jewish visitors usually do, but I don't think anyone is going to mention it to them if they do not...

    Is it allowed?

I am not sure I understand your question. Are you speaking about a non-Jewish visitor to a synagogue? In this case, they would not be called up to read to the Torah, nor should they wear a tallis. They should wear a yarmulke or other head covering. If you are speaking of people like gentile...

Did Moses write the frist 5 books of the bible?

No. I remember studying about that many many years ago.....I thought that theory had been debunked? Although I must admit it is not something I have kept up with.....

    Torah-observant Christian?

Yes, it is silly, Many of the "Messianic Christians" (who refuse to call themselves Christians, even though they believe in the tenents of Christianity) are nothing more than wanna be Jews. They go to extremes of how Jews act, dress, and practice their faith. They copy all of our traditions and...

Is the Spirit of Judaism dead?

Unfortunately the vast majority of Jews are ignorant of their faith, and are secular. However, I see this changing. There is a teshuvah movement amongst Jews; they are thirsting for Torah, for G-d and for spirituality. Many young Jews are now studying and learning about the faith they never new...

    Hebrew names?

I am not sure you can really say since the NT was not written in Hebrew, or Aramaic, but in Greek. I wonder if anyone can really say what the original names of the NT characters were?

    Questions: 101 Judaism

No, we do not believe it is anything other than a man made document. Elijah will appear before the arrival of the moshiach. No, since we do not accept any of the writings or beliefs in the NT.

Did Moses write the frist 5 books of the bible?

Yes, Moses received the Torah from G-d, it was not added to or edited by the kohanim. As someone above mentioned, the Oral Torah was also given to Moses.... it fully explains the mitzvot that are mentioned in the Written Torah, among other things.

    Conversion Help!

Are you sure they were Jews, LOL? Some of the crazy Messianic gentiles run around trying to look and act more Jewish than Jews. A couple of the Messianic gentiles in our area make the Chabad rabbi look like a goy! And "shavua tov" is not a holiday greeting, it just means "good week" and is used...

    Conversion Help!

If your husband does not convert with you, many rabbis will not accept you as a conversion candidate as they would be creating an intermarriage. Also, Judaism is heavily home centered. Is your husband willing to keep kosher? Observe shabbas and yom tov? How can you do all this without your...

I think Jews shouldn't consume animals.

Yes, why shouldn't we eat meat? The Almighty clearly permits it.
