    Marijuana

Of all cities in Holland, why the hell Amsterdam? In a place like Maastricht the atmosphere is much better, the streets are much safer, you're much closer to other countries and marihuana is probably even cheaper.

Religion and Bigotry is their a link ?

You couldn't give a better description of European liberals :D

    Theosophy's Origin of the Universe

Those who understand anything of the power of religion, will realise that merely offering a specific view is enough for most people to stop looking. I don't need religion with that. I just discuss with my friends ;) I agree that doing critical thinking together can be very useful, but just...

    Marijuana

Not in Holland. In Holland, you just go to a coffeeshop (coffeeshop = marihuana shop) and select one out of 5 to 10 different types of ganja and also a few types of hash. You can choose a poor quality variation for 3 to 5 Euros per gram or a high quality variation for 10 to 15 Euros per gram...

Shinto: Gods and why so many of them

Probably because there aren't enough people on this forum who profess that religion.

    Gentile reading of Judaism

On the author's site, there was no context either. That's plain ridiculous. Americans make fun of Canadians, Canadians make fun of Americans, Western-Europeans make fun of muslems, muslems make fun of Western-Europeans and everyone makes fun of Germans and Scots. It is man's nature to make...

    Gentile reading of Judaism

Whatever.... No Jew would have thought it was funny unless they actually know people within their own community who fitted the stereotypes you find in that cartoon. The factor of recognition within the local community is what makes this sort of humor funny. It is based on quite a bit more...

    Gentile reading of Judaism

Any group. Thanks. That's the kind of answer I've been looking for. I'll have to get my bible at hand (if I can find it) before I can comment on this. In spite or our disagreements on this particular issue, I agree it may be better to leave this for now. I'll have to get my bible at...

Hatred In Religion - with Video Footage

How do these examples of violence relate to the actual religions? I can imagine that some may proclaim to be Buddhists and still use violence, but Buddhism as a philosophy puts such a big stress on non-violence that it's pretty much impossible to use Buddhism as an excuse (which is what Jews...

    Gentile reading of Judaism

Someone deleted it calling it antisemitic, which - considering it was made by a Jew and for other Jews - is pretty ridiculous. You're the one ignoring my point. The point of referring to that cartoon was to point out that the stereotype of the Jew caring only about what happens to other Jews...

    Jesus was a Buddhist

Maybe Jesus, Buddha and several other important religious figures never really existed and their stories were all just modified copies of an even older story?

Hatred In Religion - with Video Footage

What I find remarkable, is that hatred seems to be very common in Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) but not so in other religions. Can anyone offer examples of Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Shinto, Asatru or other non-Abrahamic religions being used as an excuse for hate?

    Gentile reading of Judaism

Can you explain why Abraham "gave" his wife (and sister ) to a gentile twice without telling them she was his wife and then later demand her back? Or is that a misinterpretation? I know of no other movement that is as ethnocentric as zionism or Judaism besides German national-socialism...

    Did God have a beginning?

The post hereabove is a perfect illustration thereof. It's mindboggling that any human being can truely believe all that **** !

    Gentile reading of Judaism

In another post, I referred to one of these cartoons. The cartoonist is a man called Eli Valley who publishes for the Jewish Daily Forward and who's a proud member of Jewcy. In the parts of the other thread that you were supposed to paste into this one, I pasted the first of these cartoons...

    Gentile reading of Judaism

This description reminds me of a certain political movement. They too wanted to believe they were a special sort of people with higher morals and standards than the rest of humanity. They too put a lot of stress on self-improvement and virtues. They too felt the desire to cooperate as a group...

Religion and Bigotry is their a link ?

So everyone who doesn't agree with the majority of whatever worldview you're holding just must be a simpleton, he? Is that what you're implying here. Is that what you're trying to do, here? ;)

    Did God have a beginning?

There is no need for any religion that crosses the boundries of philosophy. Imagine a pool table, if I take a cue ball and hit two of the balls simultaneously, there is no supercomputer which will be able to "solve" that equation i.e. predict the total path of the three balls and where they...

    Did God have a beginning?

When complementing a rational philosophy with a deep knowledge of science, one can develop an understanding of the universe that's still only but a image, but an image that describes reality more than any other image ever contemplated. Obviously. However, it's not because something is more...

Religion and Bigotry is their a link ?

Any dogmatic belief system will do, whether it's religious or political, conservative or liberal. In most (it not all) cases, it's probably nothing but man's instinctive tendency to reject that which doesn't fit in his Weltanschauung and to consider those holding such views as a threat.
