As kool as embedding pics into posts is... what if we could embed U2be videos!! Think about it!!! You read a post, and then BAM!!! You get hit by a VIDEO RESPONSE!! I know what I would say if I saw a post like that man: YouTube - Totally Wicked!

You need HTML to be turned on.... *points to the very bottom left corner... HTML: Off.... IT is possible it just needs to be turned on.... Then you could have dooseys like this....

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SEtk_WENKZA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SEtk_WENKZA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

*comes running in with an orange afro on and blue jumpsuit*
*runs up to code and kicks him in the nuts*
*dances around like a lunatic*

hey, hey... hey man... You just got kicked in the nuts LULZ!!!
*points to the "hidden" camera and shakes codes hand.*

Lemme try something with the vB BB Code:

Nope: it's not enabled. Brian must want to maintain a cleaner look to the forum by not allowing imbedded videos or signatures...

Nobody asked, that's all. :)

I've now set up the required customisation - to embed YouTube vids, just use the following code:

[ youtube ]code[ /youtube ]

and just remove the spaces within the brackets, and replace code with the unique string you get in the YouTube URL

For example, here's a URL to a YouTube vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSgLOvH_MMkwww.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSgLOvH_MMk

so just replace "code" with "ZSgLOvH_MMk"

ie:

[ youtube ]ZSgLOvH_MMk[ /youtube ]

now removing the spaces:

[youtube]ZSgLOvH_MMk[/youtube]

OMG!!!!!

Brian .... I would just like to say:

[youtube]acYDNlMYAaI&feature=channel_page[/youtube]

!!!!!!! This is now OFFICIALLY the BEST FORUM EVER !!!!!!!!

I was gonna say it'll suck up bandwidth to no end.

Now I don't think bandwidth will be the major issue.

I'm concened about a deterioration of content.

But can also easily be accused of being a participant of same.

Oh, oh...we're in tribble now...

you just gave me a new toy to play with (lol) :D

Brian, do you know about the [noparse][noparse][/noparse][/noparse] tags? It allows you to display the actual code, like this:

[noparse][youtube]ZSgLOvH_MMk[/youtube][/noparse]

Thanks for enabling the [noparse][youtube][/youtube][/noparse] tags! :)

No need to, anymore. Brian enabled it in BB code via [noparse][youtube][/youtube][/noparse] tags! (See his above post for instructions, and my above post for the actual coding he used for his embedded video. (Compare the url he posted for the numbers to put inside the tags.)

Molto grazie!!!

Thank you!

This makes it official: IO is the best forum online.

I can't see how this should effect bandwidth. Isn't this a client-side function and not server-side?

Indeed, YouTube get hammered on bandwidth used, not us. :)

The embedded approach removes access to the YouTube page with all the responses and links to other related music.
