One song I really wanted to list was the Red Hot Chilli Peppers "Venice Queen" - it's a great track, and additionally, really reminds me of Arthur Lee's style. And, no strings!
Talking of Dark, my favourite female singer/songwriter/pianist in the whole wide world and the woman I would most like to meet too.

Have you familiar with the writings of Neil Gaiman? I think he played a significant role in launching awareness of her when she released Little Earthquakes, by his quoting her music in his Sandman comic series (which has absolutely sublime moments of storytelling in them).
Saw her perform in Hull about a decade ago - disappointingly, she didn;t make much attempt to engage the audience, and when someone called out "Talk to us!" she said she was shy.
Someone also shouted out "Tell us about Neil!" so I'm presuming a number of her fans are keyed in with the connection.
Not been so struck with her latest few albums, but have fond memories of playing "Raspberry Crush" while driving at speed* around Manchester's ring road motorways.
Oh, emo, lol, emo...where to begin.
Emo kind of strikes me as a new encompassing description of what would previously have been described by subgenres such as metal/greb, indie, goth, punk, etc. Emo seems to have claimed them, unless you specifically opt out.
While I'm aware there is a lyrical and music basis for the origination of the term, it seems to have become a general term to describe all teen interests fixated with existential angst, cd music subgenres above.
Not too impressed with bands such as My Chemical Romance and similar "typical" Emo groups, though - a bit soft and poppy for my liking.
I've also heard original goths calling Emo's "Goth puppies" or "Baby goths".
In the meantime, getting back on track, here's a nice track:
