Is there any association with developing internal methane and levitation?

Methane is lighter than air, no?

Hmm, I've heard of methane being used as a "float gas," but I suspect that the levitation you have in mind might be achieved by huffing the methane.

Or is levitation achieved by some rather explosive expulsion of the gases?

Followed by the cry, "eureka!?"

No smoking allowed...

I would suspect that huffing and smoking generally don't mix well...unless your a dragon, or something...

That would be the hydrogen sulfide gas, with it's distinctive odor.

And the mercaptans. Low molecular weight mercaptans tend toward offensive vapours, the odor of a skunk is in large part due to them.
