Was just cruising the web and ran across this detailed teaching to Tibetan Buddhists by the Dalai Lama on a specific practice. Though perhaps one has to have some insider's knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism to grasp some of this, there is just so much detail there on many aspects of Tibetan Buddhist thought, covering many things including mindstream, Bardo, etc., thought it might be of general interest to non-Tibetan Buddhists to give them a glimpse into that school's conceptions:

I take it you're referencing the national drink of Tibet-yak butter tea. I can't imagine drinking that:eek:. But, then, I am a descendant of 19thCE Norwegian immigrants, the land that gave us the infamous ludefisk. I can't even stand being the same room with that.:D earl

Are you sure that tea isn't just a movie prop? Yak butter I understand, but Yak-Butter-Tea does not sould like tea. I guess if tea were really hot you could dissolve butter in it with some alcohol generously applied.

Namaste Earl,

thank you for the link. i am fond of that site as Lama Yeshe was my guru :)

His Holiness does a very good job with his English, i think. many of the ideas are difficult to express within a predominantly Greek philosophical view.

for those interested in a more thorough, but academic, treatment of the subjects under discussion i would recommend two books by Reginald Ray: Amazon.com: Secret of the Vajra World: The Tantric Buddhism of Tibet (Ray, Reginald a. World of Tibetan Buddhism ; V. 2.) (9781570629174): Reginald A. Ray: Books which is quite germane to the conversation and Amazon.com: Indestructible Truth: The Living Spirituality of Tibetan Buddhism (Ray, Reginald a. World of Tibetan Buddhism, V. 1.) (9781570629105): Reginald A. Ray: Books which is an imminently approachable text on all facets of Tibetan Buddhism.

metta,

Thank you for the link, Earl, but I believe I have found a better recipe. Better in that the difference is to be found in the tea itself.
The tea may be green (raw with little processing), it may "ripe" (black, artificially aged), it may be green and well aged (10+years), but it should be a Pu Erh tea for greater authenticity.
