Cat Behavior

Greeting All! Yesterday my cousin and I went to a wonderful little shop run by wiccan ladies to pick up some lavender and rose water. I decided to get a reading while there. The reading itself was not as strange as the behavior of a particular cat.

The place was full of cats. But as I was shuffling the cards, a particular cat jumped onto the table where I was shuffling before me and was licking its paws. I tried to move the cat but it wouldn't budge. Then the lady who was to do my reading moved to push the cat away and the cat gave a low pitched purr and then hissed aggressively at the lady. Then the cat jumped on my lap and stood there, hard and statuesque, until the reading was over. When the reading was over, the cat leaped from my lap and disappeared.

I asked the lady about the cat's behavior and she said that it was strange for him to be as far away from his parents as he was but she said that he was there to do what he was supposed to do, she guessed. But I am very curious because I don't understand what happened there. Can someone shed some light?

Jeeze... don't go overboard trying to "read" the cat.

We currently have 6 house cats. They do nutty, weird, funny things every day.

If you want insight into your spiritual nature, just look deeply into your own thoughts, energies and actions and how you interact with the world. That's where the answers lie.

Namaste Truth and cit...

but can't one also look into the actions around and see what is being attracted?

Isn't it ones perception/interpretation of the readings that is actually looking into your connection with all?

This reminds me of an earlier time in my life when I was very into reading omens. What did it mean that the bird flew overhead, the horn honked, the wind blew?

It meant that I was obsessing about myself. Living was all about me and life had nothing better to do than focus its intentions on my existence.

It's funny, but the more I practiced zen, the less I obsessed about omens. Now birds just sing, horns just honk and the wind just blows.

I think behavior that is nutty and weird or whatever still has purpose. To those of us who don't fully understand the behavior it may seem nutty and weird. Now playful behavior is different. But there was nothing playful about this cat's behavior. If it wasn't for what appeared to be a protective nature over me, I would say that the cat seemed downright aggressive, and exclusively toward it's owner.

I've been pondering this since yesterday. The Wiccan priestess and I was opening up a spiritual field when the cat jumped up on the table and eventually into my lap. The cat appeared to be on guard. But if it was protecting me, was it protecting me from it's owner? A spirit? Or am I really just thinking way to hard?

I am asking this question from a supernatural perspective.

"Man killed by car while walking out of the zoo during a hurricane....news at eleven"..."Look at what was caught on video Susan, it appears he was oblivious to the world around him"

Perhaps you needed to obsess less about omens, and so Zen proved well for you. I don't obsess about behavior of animals or really about people. Understanding just naturally comes to me most of the time. If you believe in the world of spirits, then often times when you enter into another realm you understand quickly that you have done so. I didn't get a reading to ask about my life. Anyhow I am aware that cats are used for supernatural purposes and I strongly assume that the cats were in that particular environment for that particular reason. Because I don't know much about cats, I was hoping to get some understanding from someone who does know about cats in this supernatural matter.

The cat wanted attention. I would also go on to say that cats especially are very sensitive to things. But because this cat wasnt aggressive to you, i wouldnt worry about it. I wouldnt look for answers, if I was you, just accept the quirky little things that happen, and say thank you for brighteneing my day.

As I've said elsewhere, I don't believe in supernatural or miracles...it is all natural, and all miraculous.

There was segment on a news show once about pets and their psychic connection to owners. A brit who claimed his cat knew when he was coming home. Folks at the house would say the cat would move from its regular perch to the window and wait for his master (slave?) to return. Our cat did that, so we were intrigued to watch. (she would move to the window box about 3-4 minutes prior to my wife driving in, didn't matter when she drove in).

So anyway they stuck a camera at the window. And watched, as the owner and the reporter drove around town, occasionally the reporter would say, "Let's head home" and the camera would record the cat moving to the window and waiting, and then he'd say "let's stop in the pub for a beer" and the cat would return to his resting perch...

My contemplation here is two fold. A. don't just discount stuff because it doesn't make sense to you. and B. Zen, he was asking for someone with some constructive information on the topic.

Well, in that case...

The cat was aware of your heightened spiritual awareness. It was telling you that life can sometimes be difficult, and the answers you seek seem to be just outside your grasp. But if you believe in yourself, you will achieve what you desire.

The cat said don't worry about the people and circumstances that often hold you back from realizing your dreams. Each of these obstacles is an opportunity to learn about our existence and strengthen your spirit. The cat says if you are patient, kind and loving and you will endure any trial.

The cat also says you need to slow down, enjoy life more and become less driven by material desires. You can't be everything to everybody. Be true to yourself and harmony will follow.

Finally, the cat also said don't listen to me... I can be a real jerk sometimes.

TruthS, um, can I call you truthS? Lol, it's like truth plural, truth times dos, lol, ok, I'm done.

Seriously now, I do believe that cats can sense things, spirits and whatnot, much more clearly than humans can. I mean, they've evolved with extra keen senses, much different than our own, so it's not much of a stretch.

It would depend somewhat on the nature of the reading, you say it wasn't about you. In my experience, there are spirits all around us all of the time, some good, some not so much, just like people, yano? Now my cats have always tracked things, followed things around the room with their eyes that I couldn't see. I believe they saw spirits. And if what the lady did durring the reading happened to attract a spirit that It did not feel comfortable with, or it sensed might not be the best sort, that might explain it's actions. That means it liked you, and wanted to comfort or protect you.

But perhaps it just wanted attention. My cats would purposely sit on things that I was reading, or important papers, in order to get attention. So, it liked you in either case.

It's kind of hard to tell with cats. But in either case, the reasoning behind it was most likely not highly significant, or complex. Cats are animals, and do things on instinct. Just like everything else on this planet. They don't have some secret arcane knowledge, lol.

It either had an instinct to comfort you, protect you, or receive attention from you. So most likely no need to read anything major into it. Annoying, or mean spirited, lol, spirits, and attention seeking kitties are both very everyday things. Not anything to worry too much about.

Perhaps the cat was doing its bit to make sure you didn't immerse yourself too much in the reading that was taking place -- basically telling you to pay more attention to the world around you.

Or perhaps you had a catnip-based perfume on that day!

LOL!:)

Ok. So the kitty just wanted some attention. So be it.:D

It's..... just, a, cat.... lol.

Jumped on a table....

Cats do this....

It was stubborn, stuck up, pompus and disobey commands...

Say whatever these card things are an elephant showed up, and then somehow there was a elephant sat on the table... I might... Slighty think "wow".... But this woman had a house/shop/mental asylum that had cats in it.... One jumped up to be centre of attention... Breaking news.....

My doggy? It's his job to kick all da bad ghosties out. He thinks it's fun...

I can't afford Ghostbusters! Are you crazy? Lol.

What do ghosties eat anyways? Can mysterious omens lurk? Why is the sky blue? Why are dogs colorblind? If a tree falls in the forest... aw, nevermind, lol.
