Consciousness and String Theory

But anyway, regarding basic consciousness which I would call pure consciousness, I do not think it resides in the Compact subspace. I think it is outside the Compact subspace but permeats the space of the universe and the subspace. However, the consciousness that emerges from the Compact subspace is probably not different in substance from pure consciousnes. OTOH the emergent consciousness may be all that exists.
I think I am more comfortable with the view that space encompasses both a non pure-consciousness space and a pure-consciousness space compared to the view that consciousness is an emergent of certain processes.

This is because for me, consciousness is not just being conscious of something but AT THE SAME TIME, consciousness require being conscious of being conscious. In other words, there is a reflexive element in mere consciousness. Physical processes can be arranged to display as if it is conscious of something (artificial intelligience), but I am sceptical at the moment that physical processes can be arranged to display the reflexive aspect of consciousness. Reflexive aspect of consciousness can be liken to an infinite loop of a computer program, but unlike a compute program that goes into an infinite loop, it does not stop consciousness from functioning properly but instead is a requisite for consciousness to be consciousness.

Going back to the idea that space encompasses both a non pure-consciousness space and a pure-consciousness space, if this is true, then that would mean that there is a realm where its physics is completely unexplored. If your idea that emergence is the interface between consciousness and physical processes, then understanding the physics of this border realm could give some indications of the physics of the pure-consciousness space. --- just some wild speculations of mine.
