did you all notice that enlightenment is a feature of eastern thinking?
christianity and mosaicism do not talk about enlightment. these religions are more preoccupied with death as the final answer. eastern religions however tend to encourage understanding the depths during life.
Er ... excuse me ... allow me to enlighten you:
"And God said, let there be light... " Genesis 1:3
"In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." John 1:4-5
And a quick search reveals:
John 12:36
"Whilst you have the light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light."
1 Thessalonians 5:5
"For all you are the children of light, and children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness."
Ephesians 5:8
"For you were heretofore darkness, but now light in the Lord. Walk then as children of the light."
Exodus 10:23
"No man saw his brother, nor moved himself out of the place where he was: but wheresoever the children of Israel dwelt there was light. "

I think light, and enlightenment, are universal.
