Okay dokey...

1) Did Jews reject Jesus as the son of god and their king, because he failed to fullfill certain prophecies in their eyes, or that at that time, they wanted more a warrior king, not a man who went around preaching peace? Or was it a bit of both?

2) What do you think Jesus would think of Christianity, as it is today?

3) What would Jesus think about men like Bush, who profess to be Christian, yet were 'hawks' and pro war?

4) Is there a biblical date as to when Jesus is meant to make his grand return?

5) How many times in the Bible does Jesus himself actually declare himself to be the Son Of God? How many times does he declare himself to be son of man?

6) How many miracles were atttributed to Jesus, in the Bible?

7) Do you think that Jesus was able to see far into the future, for example, would Jesus have known that in the year 2011, we would all be using the net, as a means of communication?

8) What do you think Jesus thinks of so called Christians who store their wealth?

9) If Jesus was the son of god, and god can do anything, why did Jesus not wish to leave any tangible evidence of his existance? Logicallly, this would have saved a great deal of confusion, and been a better plan.

10) Would Jesus not have been of more value, remaining alive and at large, than effectively committing suicide by allowing himself to apparently be caught and killed? We would denounce such a thing were it done in the modern age, so why revere it in a bygone age? If he had remained alive, he could have gone on travelling, speaking the word of god (himself), to anyone and everyone that wanted to hear about it, directly.

He could have lived forever, never ageing, and been our representative here on earth, rather than relying on dodgy priests.

Just wondering if you truly want the answer to these questions or you want another arguement? Do you ask these questions of other religions? Just curious...

Up to you if you wish to answer them or not (or anyone).

Won't be a bad week for me, if no one does, won't make my week great if someone does.

And if you care to follow some of my posts in an unbiased manner, you would see that I always(try to) follow the rules of this forum, I rarely personally attack anyone etc. If my questions make some feel uneasy, well, I guess that is just life. If I do not roll over, and meekly accept what someone claims, well I guess that is also life, as well.

I accept that, on here as in the real world.

Others prefer slurs and personal abuse.

Okay dokey...
hunky dory donkey...nothing changes does it bud?

I just got a couple simple questions, what is the meaning of life and how did we get here? Please answer in two syllable words that rhyme.
1) Did Jews reject Jesus as the son of god and their king, because he failed to fullfill certain prophecies in their eyes, or that at that time, they wanted more a warrior king, not a man who went around preaching peace? Or was it a bit of both?
yes, no, well some of them, nah, yes
2) What do you think Jesus would think of Christianity, as it is today?
"Are you f'n kiddin me?"
3) What would Jesus think about men like Bush, who profess to be Christian, yet were 'hawks' and pro war?
see above
4) Is there a biblical date as to when Jesus is meant to make his grand return?
specifically says we won't know. but every generation including the one the first ones were expecting it to happen right then, within their life...still goes on....the signs...the signs.... not realizing the only begotten is continually begotten and we continually ignore the presence.
5) How many times in the Bible does Jesus himself actually declare himself to be the Son Of God? How many times does he declare himself to be son of man?
to what end? word search
6) How many miracles were atttributed to Jesus, in the Bible?
in the Jeffersonian Bible? Written by the author of the Declaration of Independence? None.
7) Do you think that Jesus was able to see far into the future, for example, would Jesus have known that in the year 2011, we would all be using the net, as a means of communication?
He inspired Al Gore to invent the internet, so biblical texts could be hotlinked and reviewed more easily. He predicted the interfaith abrahamic forum but did not predict enlightenment would be soo tiresome and relentless.
8) What do you think Jesus thinks of so called Christians who store their wealth?
mayhaps a review of the parable of the talents or the prodigal son would be in order
9) If Jesus was the son of god, and god can do anything, why did Jesus not wish to leave any tangible evidence of his existance? Logicallly, this would have saved a great deal of confusion, and been a better plan.
oh the better to test your faith grasshopper

Our elder brother and wayshower blazed a path....showed us the potential we all have, asked us to step upto the plate.

How ya doin with that?

Okay dokey...

2) What do you think Jesus would think of Christianity, as it is today?

I've always got the impression that Jesus was against organised religion with the blind leading the blind speach. If Jesus liked the Taxmen and Romans, he would also have like George Bush.
I get the impression he would have been interesting to meet. I wonder what people would have made of him today?

I find the George Bush reference interesting as George Bush going to war with Iraq and Afganistan goes against his teachings of peace and love thy neighbour. But he is said to have healed a Roman soldiers servant so he practiced what he preached and would have been comfortable with George Bush.

Okay dokey...

1) Did Jews reject Jesus..., because he failed to fullfill certain prophecies in their eyes, or that at that time, they wanted more a warrior king, not a man who went around preaching peace? Or was it a bit of both?

it weren't neither; it was just out of 'sheer evil' they rejected him' the usual reason why one rejects a Messenger of God; however not all Jews rejected him for his disciples were infact Jews

Once the Jews asked Jesus [pbuh] that if he was a true messenger of God to make the dead come alive by God's permission; a dead man was being carried in a stretcher so he called the man and the man came alive; the jews said, this man was not properly dead so he answered your call; then the jews went along with Jesus [pbuh] to the grave of a person who had been long dead; Jesus [[pbuh] called him [he said 'kum bi'iznillah'! [come alive with Allah's Order] and the dead man rose alive from his grave; thereafter the Jews still rejected him and refused to believe!, so we can see from this incident that it was not the lack of 'miracle' that they did not believe

2) What do you think Jesus would think of Christianity, as it is today?

he would be horrified! and sickened to be frank; people worshipping him and taking hom for Gods son? rather than worship God alone?; this was the very sort of thing he preached against!:

005.072They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.

005.073They surely disbelieve who say: Lo! Allah is the third of three; when there is no Allah save the One Allah. If they desist not from so saying a painful doom will fall on those of them who disbelieve.

005.075 The Messiah, son of Mary, was no other than a messenger, messengers (the like of whom) had passed away before him. And his mother was a saintly woman. And they both used to eat (earthly) food. See how We make the revelations clear for them, and see how they are turned away!

005.116 And when Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary! Didst thou say unto mankind: Take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah? he saith: Be glorified! It was not mine to utter that to which I had no right. If I used to say it, then Thou knewest it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy Mind. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Knower of Things Hidden?

3) What would Jesus think about men like Bush, who profess to be Christian, yet were 'hawks' and pro war?

polytheist warmongers

4) Is there a biblical date as to when Jesus is meant to make his grand return?

no there is no date, but it will happen soon; here is a run down to this great event:

see link

http://www.interfaith.org/forum/signs-of-the-last-day-7438.html

5) How many times in the Bible does Jesus himself actually declare himself to be the Son Of God? How many times does he declare himself to be son of man?

it is totally irelevent, for the Bible is not the divine book revealed to Jesus [pbuh] [which is called the injeel]

6) How many miracles were atttributed to Jesus, in the Bible?

raising of the dead?, healing the sick?, walking on water?, miraculous birth? ...

7) Do you think that Jesus was able to see far into the future, for example, would Jesus have known that in the year 2011, we would all be using the net, as a means of communication?

nope, only God can see into the future

8) What do you think Jesus thinks of so called Christians who store their wealth?

hoarders?

9) If Jesus was the son of god, and god can do anything, why did Jesus not wish to leave any tangible evidence of his existance? Logicallly, this would have saved a great deal of confusion, and been a better plan.

Jesus was not the 'son of God' God has no son or daughter for that matter ;); God is unlike anything of the creation

the 'tangible' evidence is the Quran; the Quran being the miracle that it is, says jesus [pbuh] existed and that is all the evidence we need! :)

10) Would Jesus not have been of more value, remaining alive and at large, than effectively committing suicide by allowing himself to apparently be caught and killed? We would denounce such a thing were it done in the modern age, so why revere it in a bygone age? jeuss [pbuh was not killed; he was raised to the heavens alive and is coming back soon; he 'left' as their was another messenger [saw] replacing him

see, it all makes sense! :)

Did Jews reject Jesus as the son of god and their king, because he failed to fullfill certain prophecies in their eyes, or that at that time, they wanted more a warrior king, not a man who went around preaching peace? Or was it a bit of both?

Because He spoke out against them. In John 8, He literally called them 'devil worshipers'. They didn't like Him very well.

What do you think Jesus would think of Christianity, as it is today?

He'd say, "If I see one more freaking cross, you're all going to hell!"

What would Jesus think about men like Bush, who profess to be Christian, yet were 'hawks' and pro war?

He'd call a spade a spade. And, say His three famous words, "Woe to you", and that would include right wing fundamentalist Christians who actually believe Jesus would agree with their politics.

Is there a biblical date as to when Jesus is meant to make his grand return?

He never said He was. He said the "Son of man" would return, with a new name, but no one would receive him either.

How many times in the Bible does Jesus himself actually declare himself to be the Son Of God? How many times does he declare himself to be son of man?

Not very many and like 89 times.

How many miracles were attributed to Jesus, in the Bible?

Mostly, they were attributed to God and/or faith.

Do you think that Jesus was able to see far into the future, for example, would Jesus have known that in the year 2011, we would all be using the net, as a means of communication?

I don't believe so, but, who knows. His Spirit definitely knew. He possessed the fullness of the Spirit of God, but, He wasn't God, as He tried to tell folks repeatedly.

What do you think Jesus thinks of so called Christians who store their wealth?

He'd call them poor.

If Jesus was the son of god, and god can do anything, why did Jesus not wish to leave any tangible evidence of his existance? Logicallly, this would have saved a great deal of confusion, and been a better plan.

Good question.

Would Jesus not have been of more value, remaining alive and at large, than effectively committing suicide by allowing himself to apparently be caught and killed? We would denounce such a thing were it done in the modern age, so why revere it in a bygone age? If he had remained alive, he could have gone on travelling, speaking the word of god (himself), to anyone and everyone that wanted to hear about it, directly.

Another good question. Destiny? He didn't want to, literally sweating blood asking to be let out of the obligation, so the story goes.

Abdullah might be right on this one. The Gospel of Peter seems to confirm the Qur'an, and since it was not discovered until 1945, I'm not sure if Mohammad would have been able to read about it, providing of course, he could read, which the story goes he was illiterate.

Can you expound on this one?

Can you expound on this one?

Sure. The Qur'an states.

They said, “We killed the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of God." They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but the likeness of him was put on another man (and they killed that man)... (Qur'an, 4:157)

The Gospel of Peter goes into more detail, but, I will just give you the collaborating evidence.
When he said those things, I saw him seemingly being seized by them. And I said "What do I see, O Lord, that it is you yourself whom they take, and that you are grasping me? Or who is this one, glad and laughing on the tree? And is it another one whose feet and hands they are striking?"
The Savior said to me, "He whom you saw on the tree, glad and laughing, this is the living Jesus. But this one into whose hands and feet they drive the nails is his fleshly part, which is the substitute being put to shame, the one who came into being in his likeness. But look at him and me."
But I, when I had looked, said "Lord, no one is looking at you. Let us flee this place."
But he said to me, "I have told you, "Leave the blind alone!". And you, see how they do not know what they are saying. For the son of their glory instead of my servant, they have put to shame."

Sorry, couldn't change the color for some reason. I was wrong about the date, however. The Gospel of Peter was found in 1886, 60 miles north of Nag Hammadi, Egypt. That still leaves the question as to how the writers of the Qur'an would have had access to this book circa 700 AD or so. I'm not saying it couldn't be possible, I just don't know how it could have been. But, the Qur'an does say there was a 'substitute', and so does the Gospel of Peter. It is a very strange coincidence at the very least, that is all I will say on that. Anyway, there you go. That's the nuts and bolts of the matter.

This doesn't corroborate the Qu'ran at all, for the "substitute" is the real Jesus, Paul is talking to the Spirit of Jesus.

This actually corroborates the Baha'i perspective.

I read it again. You may be right. I'll have to check out the Baha'i story. I've been wrong before, and it won't be the last.

1) Did Jews reject Jesus as the son of god and their king, because he failed to fullfill certain prophecies in their eyes, or that at that time, they wanted more a warrior king, not a man who went around preaching peace? Or was it a bit of both?

John.19

  1. [15] But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priest answered, We have no king but Caesar.
the jews gave their allegiance to Caesar and his government

2) What do you think Jesus would think of Christianity, as it is today?

it hasn't changed, there are still believers and still unbelievers

3) What would Jesus think about men like Bush, who profess to be Christian, yet were 'hawks' and pro war?

Christ Jesus died for all sinners

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
(Romans 3:23)

4) Is there a biblical date as to when Jesus is meant to make his grand return?

here is a clue:
2Thes.2

  1. [3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

5) How many times in the Bible does Jesus himself actually declare himself to be the Son Of God? How many times does he declare himself to be son of man?

Rev.1

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
