Is there a web-forum or community online for non-Jews interested in Judaism and thinking of possibly working towards converting?

All I would like to know is if there is a site someone can direct me to.

Kind Regards.

I would think most any jewish forum would be glad to discuss with you.

I know our resident Jews here are quite helpful on most any question you may have.

i assume you are already aware of the following:

1. we do *not* solicit conversions and for very good reason - one should not become jewish without VERY good reason
2. conversion is complicated, challenging and often fraught with difficulties (e.g. if you don't live anywhere near a jewish community)
3. the decisions we make now can have major repercussions in the future and on our loved ones.

to get an idea about how we think about converts (and also to encounter a highly inspiring rabbi), look up the talmudic story on hillel, shammai and the three converts (BT Shabbat 31a) here:

the best suggestion i can make is that you READ as much as you possibly can before you start making any decisions. good places to start are r. hayyim halevy donin's "to pray as a jew" and "to be a jew".

Amazon.com: Hayim H. Donin: Books

i will be happy to answer any questions you have in this sub-forum, although there may be discussions you prefer to have in private, in which case please use the private messaging function.

Conversion to Judaism requires time spent in study with a Rabbi, and learning Hebrew becoming involved with a community and making a Jewish home.

Depending on your route ie Orthodox, Conservative, Reconstructionist, or Reform the Rabbis will have different expectations.

Once a person is ready they go before a Bet Din of 3 Rabbis who ask questions then into the Mikvah for immersion, and if a man circumcision or hatafat dam brit will be required.

Orthodox do not accept any conversion other then orthodox. Conservative will accept other conversions if the rituals of conversion are carried out.
Reform and Reconstructionist accept the conversion in the other movements.

A Rabbi will be glad to talk to you but they do not encourage, they want to know that someone is coming to Judaism of their own free will and are serious in their interest.

Reading up on the different movements is good and checking out your local synagogues is a first step.

Non Jews are welcome to attend services. The local temples in my area are always open to those who are not Jews or not members to come visit for a service.
