Two men, David and James, somehow found themselves lost in the desert. They had no food or water and were rapidly becoming very hungry and very thirsty but finally notice a Mosque not too far down the path.

They decide to go in, with James telling David: "I'm going to tell them my name's Abdul, otherwise they won't give us anything to eat or drink cos' we're not Muslims. You change your name too." But David refused. "My grandfather's name was David, my name is David, and I'm not changing my name for anyone."

They go in and meet the Imam. James approaches somewhat nervously and says: "Hi, my name's Abdullah and this is David."

The Imam replies, "Hello David and Assalamu 'alaykum Abdul."

He turns to David and says warmly, "Please, come and have some food and water David." And then, with equal warmth, he then turns to 'Abdul' and says, "Ramadhan Mubarak."

Reminds me of this old chestnut: an atheist is hiking in the woods when a grizzly bear suddenly comes charging at him. Involuntarily he exclaims, "Oh God!"
Time stops. The grizzly bear is hanging in air, mid-pounce. A booming voice says, "All your life you have not believed in Me. And NOW, you want to become a pious believer?"
The atheist feels ashamed, and says, "I suppose it is too late for me to become pious. But could You make the grizzly bear pious?"
"Very well," says God, and time resumes.
The bear sits on his rear haunches, folds his forepaws, and says "I thank Thee for this food I am about to receive..."
