Question: "Covenant in patriarchal terms is somewhat different than Mosaic covenant. Discuss the distinctions between them and how the establishment of kingship relates to both."
Now here's what I have for the differences. Thoughts? And how do I link this to kingship?
Patriarchal covenant
Unconditional covenant
Required nothing of Abraham
Ceremony, where God walks between the two halves of the animals in Genesis 15
Abraham is put to sleep by God
Features of Abrahamic Covenant
The promise of land
The promise of descendants
The promise of blessing and redemption; Issac, Jacob; reaffirmed promises although the patriarchs have sinned
Mosaic Covenant
Conditional covenant
Made between God and the nation of Israel at Mt. Sinai (Ex 19-24)
Blessings from God are directly related to Israel’s obedience to Mosaic law
Features
The Mosaic Covenant is especially significant because in it God promises to make Israel “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation”.
