I was raised an orthodox Jew from a Hasidic court in Chicago Ill
I was awarded the title of Rabbi after receiving my B A in 1976 from Max Bressler and in 1982 my Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters degree from Beth Medrash Govoha Seminary. I moved to Seattle WA in 1986 and have since retired from the family business for medical reasons and now have time to sit in front of the computor unless something good is on tv.
I speak English, Hebrew and My mothers Yiddish, which is sometimes a mixture of all three at the same time, depending on how mad at me she was at the time
I stopped practicing most Jewish traditions yrs ago, Love the traditions, but hate the Intentions and for this reason I am not a Rabbi or teacher in any way shape or form, but I have never stopped being a Jew, not that it is even possible, I do study once a week with a group similar to my believes,I am basically fat and sassy and happy with my lot in life
I love talking to people about their religious believes , and truly believe each is to be respected so I will not argue over scriptural interpretations
Hope to discuss many and varied topics and make many new on line friends

Welcome, Yefet. I, being at least nominally if not absolutely resolutely Christian, used to have plenty of questions about Judaism but, as time has advanced, I have forgotten most of them. That should still leave us plenty of things to discuss and, in some if not all cases, mutually appreciate.

I hope that your time here is enriching.

Best regards,

Serv

...so I will not argue over scriptural interpretations ...
Heated debate ok? It's a freaky cold La Nina pre-winter here! Need to keep the fire stoked to keep our blood moving so we don't freeze! :p
Hope to discuss many and varied topics and make many new on line friends
Feel free to jump right into the discussions. :)

Welcome, Friend! Chicago, Hasidic... not Lubavicher, I take it (not a lot in early 50s outside of NYC). I argue about everything but scriptures (scientist at heart).

You are correct !! Satmar ,but today the Lubavicher are abundant
Thank you everyone
Was for many yrs a member of another forum that one day went down for tech reasons and never returned, I truly miss the friends I made there, Wish I had paid more attention to their contact Info

Yefet,

Welcome, you must have an incredible body of knowledge absorbed with that past and I sure hope you share it here!

Also, if you will....

love the Traditions but hate the Intentions....
