made it California and staying with a friend in San Francisco. not sure how long nor what will happen next but i'll do my best to face it head on and with an open heart.

I hope you have an automatic transmission as the hills inf S.F can be a bit troublesome for a clutch.

But in either case you may face a bit of culture shock, i.e East versus West, so If I may advise, please go slow and take care with one's new associations.
