Symmetry: Derail from Sound and Sacred Geometry

I clicked the link and tried reading but wasn't able to understand a word. This has happened to me before and it generally means I shouldn't touch that stuff with a 10 foot pole.

What link was that, stranger? The one seattlegal posted?

I've read enough of the Urantia Book to know that I would likely have to rebel against the hierarchy if it was an actual thing, but I'm skeptical enough regarding it to not bother with doing so at this time.

I think there is a hierarchy no matter which way you go. The Universe probably can't run as an anarchy.

Probably be a good idea to wait until you get there (the Mansion Worlds, the "many mansions" that Jesus spoke of (John 14:2) so you can assess the situation and be brought up to speed there, before deciding about rebelling against the hierarchy.

Alright, so back to the topic at hand: Does anyone else want to add something about symmetry in the context of sacred geometry and sound, or do we want to let this necromanced thread go back to being buried?

Sacred geometry? And sound? Sacred sound? Can you give some examples of both and what makes them sacred? Me not know.
A week or so ago I caught an old edition of the David Letterman Tonight show where he had Sonny and Cher on, apparently they were no longer an item but he got them to do an impromptu job on "I've God You Babe" and it was wonderful. In fact, I had the strong feeling that the song was a sacred song as done by them at that time. Has anyone else felt like that about a certain performance of a song? There are some pop songs that have a religious feel to them, for me. "Spirit In The Sky" is another one I like. "Sailing" (Rod Stewart) and "Graceland" by Bob Dylan, and others. But perhaps that's not what's being considered here. I don't want to "derail" this apparently 10 year old thread so I'll just stand back and listen and learn, unless The Urantia Book is mentioned again.

Anyway, it's all a belief thing. Not one of us, most likely, can prove anything we believe. But one Catholic strangely told me: "I can prove that Mary is the Queen of Heaven. The Catholic Church says so, and the Church is infallible about things like this."
hey, Everyone !
'mary queen of heaven': LOL lol lol lol.
now, unlike you Norm, we can prove everything or at least almost everything we believe, for example:

yes, i would like to just say about sacred symmetry etc:
URANTIA talks both directly and indirectly of universe symmetry, but especially in its paper 'Universal Unity':
https://www.urantia.org/urantia-book-standardized/paper-56-universal-unity
also, sacred sound as in 'celestial music' etc:
https://www.urantia.org/urantia-book-standardized/paper-44-celestial-artisans
(also, we can search words like 'symmetry' etc in the best URANTIA online search engine out there), enjoy!:

Feel free to start your own Urantia Book thread, if you like.

Yeah, thanks, but probably not. It comes across to some as evangelizing and selling, proselytizing, like the Christians do, and often degenerates into argument and acrimony which I have no interest in. But I will stay off your thread with Urantia stuff unless someone else brings it up first, which you did (from my point of view as a newcomer here). At first I had not much idea of the structure of this site and had NO idea about

"Symmetry: Derail from Sound and Sacred Geometry." Still don't know much about "Sound and Sacred Geometry." I'm not into, say, numerology and I try to stay away from superstition if I can. As Stevie Wonders sings, "Superstition Ain't The Way." And I'm not saying "Sound and Sacred Geometry" is superstition, but really, I don't know what it is. Btw, we used to live in Missoula, Montana and went out to Seattle often. My wife's sister lived (in Renton) there and it's only about 450 miles from Missoula to Seattle. We spent the winter of 92-93 in a dumpy RV park in Maple Valley.

When you believe in things
That you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition aint the way -Stevie Wonder

Knowing the name of something doesn't mean I understand it. How much does anyone really understand about the world? We just pin names on things: an electron. We don't understand a single blade of grass, really?

See ya, Luis.

It's just a line from a Stevie Wonder song about superstition, which might be numerology and possibly "sacred geometry."

You silly little man. It means the book.

what's up, my Urantian brother Norm, we both are here together!

You are damaging the Revelation, The Urantia Book, with your compulsion, over and over, to send newly knowledgeable people about the book to third party websites to read more and pile on TMI before they even have a chance to know what the book is or is about. You are like a bull in a china shop. We're done.

I’m guessing you were trying to be playful. Unfortunately the written word doesn’t always adequately express the intended nuance.

I think you may be mixed up about who said what. "you silly little man" was a childish insult directed at me, not by me. The group rules don't allow for that. What the Rabbi said.

Since you read our CoC (thank you, very commendable), why not also post to the intro forum, giving some background on yourself and your motivation for posting here? Think of it as one of our unwritten group rules.

Sacred geometry = eternal knot, flower of life, tetrahedron, circle, and the golden ratio are only a few.

sacred sound = sound to me is mostly just vibrations but I have heard sounds that resonate with me, like your examples of musicians songs. I also hear minds sing once and awhile the sounds are beautiful and indescribable. Not to confuse minds with brains.

I had never heard of the urantia files before this time. I am always looking for new thoughts about these types of occurrences. I have seen the veil open only once but from a distance and it was a space ship. Thank you for trying to explain these files.

Cino, it feels like I'm being pushed to do some self promotion, this "unwritten rule." I'd rather not, especially not on a different forum (the intro forum) from this one. There would be no context there relating to me here. Who reads that forum and why? LOL. I have been on a lot of forums and have never used the intro forum to introduce myself nor have I ever gone to an intro forum to peruse the personal stories there.

I'll be happy to introduce myself here, maybe that will be OK. I'm 79, I have had The Urantia Book since 1959 when my grandmother (Olga) in Chicago sent me one (in Minneapolis). I was 16 at the time. Olga was also the CPA (accountant) for the early Urantia Foundation. She had lived in Minneapolis too but around 1950 (maybe '48 or '49), I can't be sure. I remember she moved to Evanston, Illinois to be with her sister and with other like minded "Urantians" who lived there. I was born and raised in Minneapolis. I was raised Catholic and two years before The Urantia Book found me I had successfully thrown off that indoctrination and insanity, the Catholic church. (It gives me the shivers just thinking about it, all the pedophiles and such, praying to Mary (against Jesus' command not to do that, praying to dead human beings, again, against Jesus' command not to do that.)

I can thank puberty in part for helping me escape as I soon realized that being told that all my pubertic thoughts about girls were not actually sins at all, they were normal. That and the fact that at the end of 8th grade in the Catholic parochial school I went to, for the 9th grade I walked across the street to South High, one of Minneapolis' 10 or 11 public high schools, and surely got a new perspective there. My grandmother's sister, btw, (Emma) was the last living "Contact Commissioner" (the group which shepherded The Urantia Papers into print)

Also, my motivation for posting here in this particular thread was to try to correct an absolutist statement about The Urantia Book that seattlegal apparently made 10 years ago. She said, "it is a channeled work" when she couldn't actually know that, she simply made assumptions. Anyway, hopefully that's all settled now and my current continuing motive here will be to answer any questions about The Urantia Book that I can, any that come up. I don't want to argue about beliefs I can only tell you what I know and believe.

I took to The Urantia Book right away. It made perfect sense to me. It's too bad it doesn't make perfect sense to everyone, but then again, most for whom it doesn't ring their truth ring bell have not read it. And there are others, indoctrinated ones who are members of religions of authority who simply cannot accept it, often they say, "It's not biblical." And others of them object because they say, "it copies the bible." So they have their rejections both ways. Reading it seems to be too much to ask. And I can understand that up to a point, it is a big project, which separates the serious from the unserious. And certainly no one should believe anything they haven't read and somewhat understood. Seattegal also suggested I start a Urantia thread but I'm not inclined to do that either. Been there, done that. I just finished rescuing Princess Zelda and destroying Ganon in Breath Of The Wild a few weeks ago and I'm exhausted. It's not easy being Link.

And another thing, there are some who hijack what otherwise might be productive discussions about The Urantia Book for their own personal agenda of directing people to books they've read and to 3rd person "Urantian" websites to force "proof" on non-believers even before they ask for proof, derailing the discussion and the process before people even know what The Urantia Book is about. So no thread/forum about The Urantia Book will hopefully help to prevent that. Otherwise, it's deja vu all over again (LOL) and again and again, like when Lucy holds the football for Charlie Brown. The only way that's going to stop is if Charlie refuses to play. Lucy can't be trusted. I hope this will suffice as an intro.

Hi Powessy,
Thanks for your nice post. I guess I don't know anything about the eternal knot, the flower of life or the golden ratio. I just looked up the golden ratio and I still don't get it. Of course I have heard of tetrahedrons and circles. But what makes them sacred? The Urantia symbol is three concentric blue circles on a white background, representing in graphic form, the Paradise Trinity, the Universal Father, the Eternal Son (not to be confused with Jesus) and the Infinite Spirit. So I guess I would consider that a sacred symbol. And maybe the symbol for infinity too. ∞ -Norm
