Actually for me it is the opposite....I guess I am terrible at explaining things or my dripping sarcasm is missed.

Hazare seems like a good guy according to wikipedia, the only thing that stood out (what I noticed with a quick glance) was his attitude and actions concerning prohibition.

Anna's village suffered severely due to alcohol and boot-legging (boot-legging brought crime and police to the village), that is why he is against alcohol. Actually, Indians in general do not know how to enjoy an alcoholic drink. Most will get drunk and become a nuisance in the society and for the family. Climate-wise also, sherbets suit India better than alcohol and we have a lot of them.
