How can one Prepare for the "Day of the Lord". Being as the angel of death was a part of the original Passover, and the angels of death will be a part of the "Day of the Lord" (Ez 9), who will strike those without the "mark" as with Rev 7, as was done with the first Passover, in as that the lintel and post were marked (Ex 12:7). The reason for concern is that this Passover will be one of a blood moon (Joel 2:28 - Joel 3-2)

What is the Preparation Day, and what is the significance for today?
The Preparation Day is the day in which one prepares for the Passover, a high holy Sabbath, which occurs on the 14th day of the 1st month, on which the angel of death flew over Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, and the angel of death leaves the first born alive, if the blood of the lamb was put on the lintel of the house.. The 15th day of the 1st month is the first day of the Days of Unleavened Bread, which is a high holy Sabbath. Israel is now “scattered among the nations” (Joel 3:2). Preparation day is the day that leaven is cleaned from the house of Israel. This would be the spiritual equivalent of getting rid of the hypocrisy (Mt 16:11). This would be the getting rid of the traditions of men, which would be the babble of Paul for the “Christians”, and getting rid of the Talmud (Jewish traditions) for the Jews, which are messages of confusion.
The significance for today would be in Isaiah 24, whereas the “Lord lays the earth waste”,….The earth is also polluted by its inhabitants, for they transgressed laws, violated statutes, broke the everlasting covenant….Lord will punish the host of heaven, .. and the kings on earth,…the moon will be abashed and the sun ashamed…for the Lord of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem…the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left… he who flees at the report of disaster will fall into the pit…. earth is broken asunder.”
The present situation is that Judah and Jerusalem have been restored, the nations have gathered against Jerusalem (Joel 3:1-2), the pope is planning to assume authority over a portion of Mt Zion in Jerusalem in June of this year (Is 24:23), and that of rampant pollution in some areas, we will again have a blood moon and eclipse on Passover of this year. This corresponds with the nations conspiring against Judah and Jerusalem with respect to Joel 3:2 and Psalms 83. The consequences of all of the above being that the table is set for the “earth will be laid bare”, and we will be in the midst of the Great Tribulation, in which “the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left.” (Is 24:6)(Mt 24:21-22)
What can one do? I suggest cleaning out the leaven in preparation for the angels of death coming at Passover, and follow the advice of Isaiah 26:20:

To most "pre-trib" believers the "Day of the LORD" begins the first day of tribulation. I don't accept that belief. The Day of the LORD is toward the end of tribulation and is about a 45 day period.

We must all endure tribulation. The time is soon coming where 'provisions' like food etc. will be in short supply. We should all store some food and other necessary items for those coming times of trouble.

Christians have long been taught that "the mark of the beast" would be global. Don't be fooled! The mark of the beast will be limited to the 10 nation empire of the anti-Christ.

The blood red moon is also something most Christians misunderstand. There's a difference between a blood red moon and one that you cannot see at all.

In Joel 2:31 we can't be sure if he's referring to the beginning or end of tribulation. All we know is that it's before the Day of the LORD. I tend to believe he's being more general and talking about the entire tribulation period.

Joe 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

We know that Mathew 24;29 is at the end of tribulation. And that's when the Lord said the moon would NOT GIVE HER LIGHT.

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

In Joel 3:15 if you read the entire text it appears to indicate that it's at the end of tribulation because some things in the passage can only happen after the tribulation and in the Millennial reign of Christ.

Joel 3:15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

Joel 2:31 and 3:15 are both during the tribulation. 3:15 is for sure at the end of tribulation but 2:31 is uncertain. What is certain is that the Lord said in Mathew 24:29 that at the end of tribulation the moon would not give her light. THAT'S DIFFERENT THAN A MOON THAT IS BLOOD RED.

In Revelation 6 which I believe is at the beginning of tribulation, the moon is said to become as blood.

Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

There's a difference between a blood red moon and a darkened moon or one that doesn't give her light.

In Mathew 24:29 Jesus is talking about the cosmic signs at the end of tribulation. Revelation 6 is at the beginning of tribulation.

The reason why the moon appears red even today when it first rises or sets is because of the particles in the "sphere" and the curvature of the earth which causes our viewing of it to be through a much longer distance of the earths spheres. When it's high in the sky we view it through much less a distance through those spheres and it doesn't appear red. But it will during 'tribulation.' It's the particles in those spheres both natural and man made that cause its appearance to be red. In the beginning of tribulation the moon will appear red all the time and as tribulation progresses you won't be able to see it at all.

The moon and stars as well will then fade more as the tribulation progresses. Toward the end of tribulation there will be so much stuff emitted into the atmosphere that we won't see it at all other than a dim glow above those spheres with pollution.

The same is true about the sun. In Revelation 6 the sun became black as sackcloth of hair. In Mathew 24:29 the sun is darkened. Sackcloth is a course cloth that you can see through a bit. That's different than a sun that is darkened or can't see at all.
 
This is well and good. I do have a question. The End of Times has been prophesied as 'coming soon to a neighborhood near you' for about 2,000 years now. It has been just right around the corner for just about every generation since the death of Christ.

All those thousands of 'right around the corners' had justifiable (to them) reasons for knowing they were right. They all quoted the Bible to illustrate why they were right. They were wrong. Every single time. But now. Today. This is really, really, really it.

Those earlier generations truly believed it was The End. Just as today's believers truly believe that this time it is for real.

I'm not being sarcastic here. I do not understand the thought process behind this kind of thinking. Why should I accept that this time is any different from all those other times?

In Is 24:21, the moon is "abashed". The sun "ashamed".

The only other aspect is "I will pour out My Spirit". (Joel 2:28) In this respect the top Rabbi of Jerusalem, according to news accounts, has already confirmed Yeshua as the messiah.

What is missing in Mt 24:14, is that "the gospel of the kingdom must be preached to all the nations." With Internet, that can be with the click of a mouse, and proceed as "lightning comes from the east, and flashes to the west". (Mt 24:27)

The sign of an event doesn't come after the event, but before the event. Although the pouring out of the Spirit to "the whole of Israel" comes after the event, (Ez 39:39) Whereas Joel 2:28, appears to be before the event, which alludes to "all of mankind", and refers to visions, such as to the top Rabbi in Jerusalem, per news link.

No one knows the day or the hour, but one can read the signs of the times. One should get the leaven out of their house prior to Passover, hate evil, love good, and establish justice (Amos 5:15), whether the "Day of the Lord" is next week, or whenever.

The birthright of Jacob went to Joseph, and then to Ephraim, who is now "Israel,.. scattered among the nations." (Joel 3:2)

Dear Gordian,
No one knows the day or hour. (Mt 24:32) What one can do is look for signs of the times. With respect to what one should do, is the same thing as if the "Day of the Lord' was a million years away. They should hate evil, love good, and do justice." (Amos 5:15) And they should take the hypocrisy (leaven) out of their lives.

This 'end of world' is no more than a joke just as beginning of the universe...the Big Bang and so on.

In what way should knowing or not knowing about it affect our present?

I have friends in Shanghai as well as Bejiing. It is more than morning smog. They have had 5 continuous days of closed in smog.

NtK, we have gone this route together already, you and I. We have different opinions so why not just leave it at that.

As to the end of the world, I don't have a clue so I do not concern myself with it. What I do know is that my existence is finite, and that there is no guarantee there will be a tomorrow for me personally. Thus my statement as I stated above. It works for me.

Indeed there is a difference between Joel 2:31, and Joel 3:15. Joel 2:31 is about an eclipse of the sun causing a red moon, and this supposedly happen on Passover in the Israel war of 1948, 1967, and 1973, and will supposedly happen this Passover.

Joel 3:15 is with respect to the valley of Jehoshaphat, and the judgment of the nations. As you note, the dragon is thrown down and has time to cause more mischief before he is thrown in the abyss.(Rev 12:9, Rev 20:3) Judging from Ze 14:12, I would think the blackout would be due to a nuclear winter. Is 24:22 kind of reinforces that point of view. Messiah Hussein Soetoro, and his fellow conspirators, will be hunkered in their dungeon like retreats for many days before being punished.

With regard to Preparations, some will not be worth the effort, if one does not seek justice and righteousness. Above all, Preparation Day, is the day to clean out the leaven (hypocrisy) from the house.

The bible states that god will not allow the earth to be destroyed. Its not destruction of the earth but a renewal through a miracle event of transformation just like the quote about how people will change in the twinkling of an eye. All of those dooms day believers are not biblically correct.

Donnann, no disrespect to you - all those doomsday sayers would say you were the one not biblically correct. And as the Big Guy/Gal/Thing/Whatever refuses to take my calls (even though I have a really, really great long distance plan!) I cannot get confirmation which side has the right idea.
