Here's a few humorous responses to negative comments made to other's posts.

To respond or not to respond? That is the question.

"Whether it is nobler to lash out in retort and give credibility to outlandish comments
-or- to abstain, letting the author's own words stand in testament to their ignorance."

Ah yes... that is the rub.

:):):):):):):):)

I grew up in a poor neighborhood that was usually referred to as the bad side of town. The teenagers there have a standard reply to derogatory comments directed at them that I think is apropos here:

"Your Momma!"

:):):):):):):):)

and finally:

"Oh yeah! Well my God can beat-up your God!"

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Nice ones:D:D:D

I have been occasionally known to respond to rude posters on other forums, "Never mind dear, nursey will make it better very soon!"

What amazes me about some posters is that they accuse others of being rude to them, but can't or won't see how totally obnoxious they are being to others!

Oh the irony!

I think one of the virtues is being able to admit to being wrong from time to time. Not that I am ever wrong of course. Oh dear a pig has just flown across the window!:D:D:D:D

I hear yah. One thing I have been telling my wife for decades is that the husband may not always be right but I am never wrong! Oddly enough I always get a dirty look in response. Women!

If anyone sees a rude or offensive post, simply report it using the little red warning triangle, which sits at the left of every post:

Quite right I, B.

The replies posted in this thread are strictly for the purpose of humor and not intended for actual use on this or any other forum.

I left another forum because of the unpleasant attitudes I'd encountered. It's difficult to report an abuser when they're a moderator! My response is usually along the lines of
"Well, I shan't say any more in this thread, since you have trouble coping with it, so you can go and have a nice cup of something and calm down."
or
"The dogs bark, but the caravan travels on."

Abusive posts should not be tolerated of course. However, some people are overly sensitive, especially on religious forums, and don't like their beliefs challenged.

I just remembered one from the British TV series, "Are You Being Served" which took place in an old style department store.

Captain Peacock, the floorwalker (supervisor), had just chastised Harman, the maintenance man, for being on the floor during business hours.

Harman's reply to him was, "I shall go now and consult the staff dictionary and when I return I shall call you a very large word meaning twit!" :D

From an English perspective, surely the greatest good manners is not to never give offence but to never take it?

That series was very amusing!:D

the only thing that is obviously obnoxious is the use of profanity ,which I never do, but on so called civil political and certain religious sites is considered part of the risk you take.

I think it's pretty low to deal with profanity or with profane people.

But usually I'm accused of hurting other's feelings with words ,they have every opportunity to refute.

In fact, hurting feelings doesn't make sense but its used as an excuse to throw stuff they can't discuss under the rug.

"Are You Being Served" is one of my all time favorites. It's still aired here on Sunday nights. I get sad when I watch it though, because just about the entire cast is gone now...:(

I think you are right, they have all died.
