:( This is really horrible! Supposedly, the sudanese government is following the "Sharia" ruling on apostasy. What "Sharia" they follow I do not know, but it is becoming clearer that some Muslims would choose hadiths over the Qur'an! If Allah SWT ordered the Prophet pbuh to deliver the message, not force others to believe, then don't you think that Prophet pbuh would follow that? The Noble Qur'an recognizes the right of others to choose their belief and even states that Allah SWT willed humanity to be diverse in many ways, including belief:

I am seriously beginning to believe that the fallacy of many Muslims' beliefs stems from hadith forgeries that entice violence, encourage human rights abuses and other despicable crimes. Why? Well, almost all of these so-called "true" hadiths contradict the Qur'an! Since Allah SWT states that He cannot contradict Himself--and I believe this with all my heart and soul, then the only reasonable and sound conclusion is that the human error in the hadiths results in such backward Muslim actions and beliefs. Of course, some Muslims would probably threaten to kill me, and maybe even try to do so, for saying that hadiths can be wrong!

Recently, I read a quote (I think it is a hadith, yes) that states something like this: Muslims got an elevated status in front of God with Islam. Every time they look for anything other than that, they will face calamity.

And guess what? It's becoming a reality: Muslims have been stricken with wars, poverty, dictatorships, lack of personal freedoms, etc., because they have invented lies in hadiths and they believe them, and because they do not follow Islam as revealed.
 
How terrible!:eek: However I bet there are some extreme Christians who would like to bring in the in the death penalty for so called blasphemy!

Utterly dreadful case, which leaves one speechless.

Sudan has a very corrupt regime and they often do bonkers things to keep the extremists, taught by the Wahabbi's, quiet. Remember the teddy bear case, that was Sudan too. There have been a number of death sentences handed down since they introduced this law but thus far nobody has been killed. Hopefully she will not be the first.

Corruption is the key here. Her lawyer says he can prove her mother died in 2012 but the court has taken testimony from a woman claiming to be her mother and two men claiming to be her brothers. She owns a business ... do the math. They see someone living as a Christian but with a Muslim name and hey presto.

Of course hadith can be wrong. There are various classifications for hadith and they include weak and fabricated classifications.

I think we just have to accept that some Muslims want to take the hardest line possible and will always find evidence, no matter how weak, to support their desires.

Easy now, you're speaking of very specific (American) groups of Christians. There isn't any 'overall' in an overall sort of way.

Quirkybird--yes, there are some Christians (like Muslims and others) who are for the death penalty. And you know, some people deserve it I think: mass murderers, serial killers, serial rapists, etc. I think some people are just so evil and to not punish them like that would be a crime in itself. Why waste government resources, money, etc. on someone who has done more harm to the society than one can imagine?
 
I just read the news that this woman will not be punished by death! Very happy for her and her family. Who says international pressure without guns or such is powerless?! :)
 
And sadly she was arrested again trying to leave the country :(

wa alaikum salam Amica. I'm not sure international pressure had very much to do with it. Since introducing the death penalty for apostacy they haven't killed anyone despite numerous sentences and the international community never heard of those cases. I beleive it's more to do with a government who has little stomach for this law but needs (for tribal reasons) to keep the fanatics quiet. Just my opinion and may be totally wrong ;)
