Old Blue Eyes on religion....

It suggests that he was risking a lot coming out like that. Do you know if there was any public reaction or protests after?
 
I don't recall any....but his fandom was large at the time.. a lot of things like this tend to get ignored once you have a certain position of power.
 
He was a very popular singer and actor, but did his fans really care about his religious views?

And Playboy wasn't exactly a mainstream media publication. If religious leaders started discussing "Frank Sinatra's Playboy interview", wouldn't that have been a little awkward? ("Um, why were you reading Playboy, Reverend?")
