This is along the lines of my jaw-dropping 'you are made of stuff that stars are made of' moment when I heard a guy saying carbon atoms are cooked in the heart of stellar furnaces ...

But logically, there is a 'leap of faith' here, and dare one say it's blind faith?

There is no data to suggest the universe is conscious, so the idea that the universe is 'experiencing itself through me' Where does that come from?

There was also nothing in the posting that suggested that the universe was conscious.

We are conscious.
We are made from stardust.
We will return to stardust.
We were, are each universe-al parts observing ourcellves and our universe.

Which of those do you disagree with?

Sorta puts into perspective those that decry Mormonism and Joseph Smith's story of finding plates with glyphs on them that tell the book of Mormon eh?

Prosperity tends to lead people away from G-d, because they may believe that they have achieved success on their own. Suffering brings people toward G-d, because they need His help.

The cadof.org statement is observing a correlation and asserting a fallacious cause and effect relationship.

The last lines, to wit: 'you are the universe experiencing itself – All you are is a thought'

I disagree with the idea that we are the universe 'experiencing itself'.
We're us experiencing ourselves. No need to drag the universe into it.

And we are more than thought.

Thomas said "There is no data to suggest the universe is conscious, so the idea that the universe is 'experiencing itself through me' Where does that come from?"

Like all religious doctrine it was made up by people who are want answers where no genuine answers are possible. Bummer. But there it is.

One more time...

we are stardust (come from the universe)

we will return to stardust (go back to the universe)

What they are saying is this bundle of elements that run around our planet posting notes on the net, making films and tv shows and news broadcasts are all made of the same stuff the universe is made of...

we are made from the universe will return to the universe we are the universe just as dipping a cup in the ocean is not the ocean but contains what is in the ocean...

we are that fluid in this cup we call a body...

That's the consumer version ;)
Which amounts to what percentage of Christian believers would you say??

I'd say 99.9%... (as for Catholics I know it wouldn't pertain to you and one other...and he is a Jesuit Priest (now he and you would both know more as to the circles you travel)

I think 'you are the universe experiencing itself' implies more then that. I don't consider myself the universe, I am made up of matter which is part of the universe.

Which amounts to what percentage of Christian believers would you say??
I'd say 99.9%...
So you count you in that 99.9%?

The figure may be accurate for America, I can't say. From my experience it's not the case here nor in Europe.

But then I also reckon there's a lot of 'non-consumer Christians' who don't show up on your radar.
