Another Media "Star" Passed

Stanley Weston died earlier this month. His passing didn't get much press as he wasn't much of a media star, but one of the concepts he helped develop certainly was. Sold to the predecessor of today's Hasbro for a mere $100,000 who later dubbed it, G.I. Joe.

Which my father dubbed a doll. And something boys shouldn't play with. As I age I see more and more that homophobia is often attached to a shame from experience or curiosity...

Never understood the connection myself. I had 3 sisters and 5 nieces growing up. Playing with dolls was just a given. When the 1st G.I Joe came out, I couldn't wait to get one. Finally, a doll for us guys! ...and here I am today, a fully paid, card carrying, heterosexual party member!:D

I just learned that Adam West, TV’s ‘Batman,’ died. He was 88. This is a sad one for me. I never missed that show when I was a kid. Had all the cool promo stuff too.:(

Leukemia blows Chicken Chunkies(tm) imho. From what I understand, Adam West's was highly aggressive, taking his life less than a year after his diagnosis.

And the others! She was with Brian Jones before Keith, and the rumour (most probably just a rumour) was that she screwed Mick Jagger on the filmset of Performance (there's supposed to be footage of it somewhere), when the two were out of their heads on mushrooms, or acid, or whatever ...

Jo Bergman, the Stones' PA from 1967–73, said of Pallenberg: "Anita is a Rolling Stone. She, Mick, Keith and Brian were the Rolling Stones. Her influence has been profound. She keeps things crazy."

Actor Stephen Furst, best known for his role as Flounder in Animal House and rookie doc Eliott Axelrod on St. Elsewhere, died yesterday due to complications from diabetes. He was 63.

Chester Bennington passed away from an apparent suicide by hanging at the age of 41. He's survived by his wife and six children. He died on Chris Cornell's birthday (ironic because Cornell, the lead singer for Soundgarden, died in May from a successful suicide from what I understand.)

"Who?" you ask?

He was the lead singer for Linkin Park.

I missed this one somehow, but Peter Sallis, an English actor best known for his portrayal of Norman Clegg on the long running British comedy, "Last of the Summer Wine" and the voice of Wallace in "Wallace and Gromit" passed on June 2, 2017 at the age of 96.

"Last of the summer Wine" is one of my all time favorite TV series. I still watch rebroadcasts on my local PBS affiliate. Nearly all of the main characters have now passed.
