Independence/National Day Celebrations

Blessed National Day to the Canadian delegation and early blessed Independence Day to the American delegation. May we all avoid the ER this year.

The :kitty: delegation's avoiding all of the noice as much as possible, and will do so Tuesday (I'm treating them to some tinned food while I pick up some ice cream.)

It is time for this rebel to drone on...

Times change, and we have had enough of bombs bursting in air.

I believe I related ambefore about watching the fourth in Alaska, land of the midnight sun, where you get to see all the casings, and paper and debris falling below the explosions and polluting our earth, and as each goes of the huge cloud of gray smoke accumulating and trailing off with the winds polluting our air.

Some of you are aware of the Canadian forest fires whose smoke has gone down the eastern seaboard as far as north Carolina causing "code reds" warning elderly, asthmatics and those with copd to stay inside and not exert.

Well we've reached an all time high....or is it low? The news last night warned folks to stay in on the morning of July 5th...for the same reason, hazardous air quality in the Balt /DC area, not from forest fires...but from umpteen cities around the beltway and a 17 min display of fireworks on the national mall which will leave residuals that could harm our citizens.

The wild and domesticated animals, the veterans with PTSD, those with COPD, all their lives rank below our need to celebrate a country which... I better stop there.

Don't forget the dogs! My poor JRT is so traumatized by fireworks. I live in the DFW metroplex.. it's illegal to light off fireworks in the city limits and it never fails every year to have my neighbors lighting off artillery shells all night long. Can't even report them as our local police get hundreds of these calls every night. I might try giving her some trazadone tonight.

But they're pretty.
That they are.

But it seems I am growing beyond that somehow. Not by choice, my gut is reacting to a guilt complex must be of not being as empathetic as I'd like (in this case towards the earth, animals, ptsd folk, etc.) Or it may be I've said too much over the years and my brain wants me to "put up or shut up." I also like the big fire art I've built and watched burn at burns...but have issues with now.

Pretty doesn't cut it anymore...sigh.

It may be a phase I am going thru

The Trio hid due to fireworks/firecrackers and gunfire (yes, there are idjits that like to shoot in the air or at someone that p!ssed them off.) :kitty:s hate the sound of Independence Day!

There were several EMS vehicles that added to the cacaphony (I live near a hospital's ambulance entrance and ER/A&E entrance.)

I'm glad they survived the nightmare. My four legged family was not happy at all.
