anyone here do any gaming?

My current interests are:
Minecraft
7 Days to Die
Ark: Survival Evolved

I don't get much time to play them, but what I do I thoroughly enjoy.

PS. If anyone else enjoys these, let me know, maybe we can set up a Multiplayer session.

I never much got into the virtual aspect of gaming myself. Born of a different era I suppose. I prefer things like chess, card games, billiards, that sort of thing. Although I must admit, there for a while I was hooked on Morrowind and Sims2.

Those are some of my past favorites as well... along with many in the Elder Scrolls series...

I like the classics as well... but it is repetitive and usually I'd prefer to play a game or 2 and be done for a week or so...

I have played Battlefield for free for a year or so and recently I broke down and bought BF4. I'd play them when I am without a project or just want to escape....I admit BF4Free was better(I miss it) than the BF4. Ever played these?

I've played Minecraft, but not in a while. I used to play the Command & Conquer series and also Age of Empire games, but haven't kept up with those series as they became more expensive and my computer could no longer handle all the graphics needs of the latest and greatest games. The only games I play with any regularity now are online card games (Canasta and Euchre).

Just curious, what is the appeal of video games for you? For myself, I needed to learn video animation for a film and figured it would be easier to use an existing program as a model than to start from scratch. Hence my version of the games mentioned look nothing like their original releases.

I'm into board games, card games, best game in the world... Homeworlds...chess on steroids...intragalctic instead if land based..

basically they are great stress releivers for me... Also, I prefer the Multiplayer games for social reasons... i'm not such a social butterfly IRL...

I did play Bad Company 2 for a while... Loved it... tried BF3.. not so much... Bought BF4 and maybe played a dozen matches or so... just never got into it.

I've heard a lot of people say that, but for me it was just the opposite. I mean, aside from The Sims and even that at times, I find most video games to be quite stressful. It may have something to do with the violent nature of the games I've played though.

I have (almost) every Sunday afternoon set aside for TT gaming with three friends whom I met on campus (Tyler and America are real people as is Angie and the four of us have played different TT games over the years [we used to play face-to-face until Tyler and America moved to Chicago].)

I also have played random video/computer games that Tyler introduced me to (most I haven't completed.) Here's a list along with whether or not I've finished:
1) Breath of Fire - finished
2) Breath of Fire II - not finished
3) Final Fantasy IV - not finished
4) Final Fantasy V - finished
5) Final Fantasy VI - not finished
6) ChronoTrigger - not finished
7) Terranigma - not finished
8) Phantasy Star II - not finished
9) Phantasy Star III - finished
10) Phantasy Star IV - not finished
11) Shining Force - not finished
12) Shining Force II - not finished
13) Story of Thor - not finished
14) Front Mission 3 - DON'T ASK

Superdupergames.org for strategy turn based games. It is an old site that was never really finished... Has many good board games in it.. You don't often play...it is more like playing chess with a pen pal on another continent as you wait for the responding move..

Namaste all,

i have a wide range of games i play, in no particular order other than how i recollect them:

Dota2
DayZ Standalone
Warthunder
World of Warcraft
Civilization 5
StarWars: Battlefield
Elite: Dangerous
Stranded Deep
Grand Theft Auto 5
Blood Bowl 2
Payday 2
FIFA 16
Madden football games
MLB: The Show

and probably some others that i play less frequently that i don't recall offhand.

Hearts, chess, diamonte, splendor, klunker, dominion, dixit, fluxx, homeworlds, oetri dish, euchre, bridge, pinochle, uggtech, twixt, las Vegas, martian attack...

Two choices of weekly board game groups, know four game inventors with games on the street... And in stores..,. Video games...my son does that ..

Every Sunday afternoon my family played games... And weekly with friends...my mom is still in three bridge groups... 83 years old and can learn new games and play competently with most...

Do you think playing video games is as valuable to keep your mind sharp as card and board games?

I do, Wil. i think that may have something to do with the games themselves though. i think a fair amount of folks my age and older tend to see "video games" as a rather monolithic whole that has a "sameness" outside of the medium which is used to convey the story of the game. that's not really the case and the games today offer as deep and as complex and rewarding a challenge as chess or any other board game. indeed, most board games have digital analogs of them.

Concerning your question, some do and some don't. Ditto card/board games. Heck, while my late father was still lucid, he used to do crossword puzzles, including the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle in ink. I sometimes get variety puzzle books if/when I can afford to, and do them in ink, as well (except for logic problems and Sudoku puzzles, which I'm too chicken to try.)

Yeah we have a lot of the same gaming interests... I have War Thunder, WOW, Civ 5, Stranded Deep, and I'm hoping to get FIFA 16... if I can ever get out of this job rut...

namaste all,

StarWars: Battlefront just dropped... goodbye social life! it's actually looking to be a pretty full winter of game releases.
