It has been a couple of months since Barack Obama suggested that the Crusades were somehow on a par with, or even a justification for, 21st-century Islamic terrorism. I objected to Obama’s casual slur at the link, saying, among other things:

There was nothing wrong, in principle, with the Crusades. They were an appropriate (if belated and badly managed) response to the conquest of the Holy Land by Islam. Did marauding 11th century armies inevitably commit outrages? They certainly did. In fact, that still happens today. But the most unfortunate thing about the Crusades is that they failed.

are you even trying anymore? or are you just a slander machine? The Link showed nothing to do with anything except the vulnerability of christian beliefs throught history. If you didn't notice the Christian and Islam lines were overlayed throughout most of History. The Crusades were widely inappropriate. Jerusalem wasn't taken by force, rather it was beseiged and surrendered. The people were then sllowed to still practice until the Byzantines kicked the Jews out. Once Muslims came back and took it over Jews (you know those people we are supposedly so oppressive throughout history to) were allowed back and allowed to worship. weak source of info https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Jerusalem_(637)

The Crusades were sent by a foreign country unitizing many foreign countries to attempt to bring them togethr for a common cause to do what was unnecessary, kick out the Muslims. They had full rights to travel to holy sites, and worship freely, but the Pope needed to attack something to get the countries to stop killing each other. This plan was widely unsuccessful as they killed as many of each other on the path to their intended goals than they did the Muslims that were there, who frankly didn't know why the hell they came in the first place.

is it on par with "extremism", yes. they raped women, killed innocents, looted towns, destroyed holy houses (of all faiths including greek orthodox christians) and in essence did so with no plan to hold their target. Their whole goal was to go there kill people and go home... That is very terroristic sounding.

Is it a justification for so-called Islamic terrorism, no... then again there is no justification for it even in ISLAM! You just assume we are all out to take you over and kill everyone, mainly because your ancestors likely were involved in doing that very same thing.

Obama said that??? Or the biased artidle dismissing Obama said that? If this is how you aquire and interpret information I think I see the issue.

"Jerusalem wasn't taken by force, rather it was besieged and surrendered." you are a funny guy Joe...funny in the semantics of "taken by force" also not really accepting facts in History. Islam took Hungary for 150 years. They were never invited nor welcomed! They also took southern Spain until they got kicked out. Sane people simply will never accept that "****" now worshiped. It may have been different a while back but, it seems the people under Islam just want to leave or they keep killing each other. It is a disgusting mess and now they are importing it into Europe.
The others on forum are quick to defend Obama (worse President since Carter) so it is no wonder why we cannot see eye to eye...

Lies tend to lead people away from your opinion rather than toward it.

This rant, i'm assuming, is about the Ottoman occupation. If you think Protestantism and Paganism are good parts of Hungarian culture, then you might want to think about how the Pope was attempting to kill all of them, but the Ottomans protected those in its borders. A major factor in the preservation of those religions in the region. Yes it was a war, much like the rest of Europe at the time. It's just more convenient to bring up Ottoman occupation than say, the Catholic army occupation, or the serbian incursions, or the Polish invasion, or the Mongol invasions (prior to their major conversions), etc. Hungary has a long battlefield history. To point out 1 as conquering and holding it for 150 years is less of an insult and more of a "Wow, noone's done that before!" moment. Mind you Britain didn't hold power over the US for 150 years and Britain was a large influence in the creation of US.

But if you are still a little salty over it, I apologize for all the people who have ever controled a major portion of Hungary except the Romans. Now let's rant about those Romans...

Turks hadbeen attacking eastern europe long long before they converted to Islam. Are you sure you dont have any turkic DNA in you. And do you know who lived in Hungary before hungarians? Anyways it doesnt matter

So whats up with you and Islam? What do you know about it, apart from live news.
