Stumbled across this on the web and thought it interesting. Something for everyone here. Food for thought for the forward thinkers among us and some modern thinking to shoot down for eveyone else.

"According to Strong's Hebrew Lexicon the word rib, Hebrew צלע 'tsela' (Strong’s 6763) , side or rib from the primitive root word of צלע 'tsala' (Strong’s 6760) which means curve, limp in the sense of bowing, to arc, as in pray.

So what does this all mean? Well what if the translation was indeed wrong and that it was in fact “tsala“(Strong’s 6760) they did not understand that God took from Adam’s curve. So they extrapolated (assumed) that it meant rib. God said Adam’s curve. In other words from Adam’s Double Helix (Curve) DNA."

I find it humorous when religions try to bring modern science in.....as if the writers predicted/knew about DNA...

It has happened throughout time...first denial that science knows what they are talking about, then melding some scripture with current scientific thought.

Then science makes new discoveries and the work repeats...

Religions and their benefits are so large to believers...why they try to stretch them into what they are not (unerring history or science books) is beyond me.

The mystery, metaphor, parables, allegory, mythology, metaphysics, is so steeped in value... I can't see the need to make weak attempts to make it more....by tryimg to make it more...they make it less...to me.

I'm curious how he translated curve to mean DNA. Seems like quite a leap to me.
It did to me too at first, but it's kind of simple. It has to do with the structure of DNA. The double helix. The theory is Eve was created from Adam's DNA. His double helix or curve which is expressed in the Bible as rib.

and would make sense given Women Chromosomes is XX which is 2 of what 1 of is in a man..

or is it possible that God revealed something at some point that couldn't be proven false over the various interpretations of the words. Not that I am making a big case for biblical words being all revealed. But it is interesting that someone can dismiss such claims in light of an idea of an omnipresent God. It's almost like he knew people would take it to mean 1 thing for a long time and then figure out it means something else as well, and that the other interpretation makes more sense when seen with the new scientific knowledge... crazy i know... to you God isn't real, therefore can't know what future advancements would be learned...

You do realize that you get one half of the double helix from the mother and the other half from the father, right? Ergo, impso facto Columbo Orio, God is female if he donated the other half. Yikes!

or he created it, and isn't bound to the laws of physical world. or Eve was made with a Single strand, somehow... or he duplicated the strand with his will (or power if you will)

Sure. Works that way as far as human procreation is concerned, but we're talking about the initial creation of those DNA patterns. Not the way they're designed to work.

You know, the idea that the Hebrew word translated as rib actually refers to DNA has been around for awhile now. I've heard it many time before and it's always been my knee-jerk reaction to dismiss it. At the same time however, it does make sense to me that certain DNA patterns would have been established during the creation. It then follows that some of Adams DNA could have been taken to create Adam's female counterpart and I could easily see how that act could have been symbolized in the scripture as taking Adam's rib. So now, I'm not so sure I want to dismiss the idea anymore.

It's one of those established grey area thoughts? Same here.

Grey area?

I believe the literalists take it literally...most other Christians and Jews see it as metaphor... (The whole story) and which denominations have this as established doctrine seen many times? We are back to flying spaghetti monsters.

If I were to.consider this contemplation as anything at all.... I'd say he missed the boat completely.... G!d was attempting to make a helpmeet for man, Adam....and G!d made all the animals... And Adam tried them all and couldn't find a suitable helpmeet among them... So G!d made woman... From Adams prayers...

In that case, I'll say damn find job...
