Any Photogs Out There?

Nah, cropping was the question...

Depth of field was something I enjoyed playing with. In the 70s with a macro lenses and extension I took a picture inside a square of a waffle and narrower the depth of field to a few mm.... Fuzzy to the bottom of the waffle square and fuzzy to the top...only section in perfect focus was a square of tiny bubbles...

Ok, wasn't sure.

Reminds me of this client I had a while back who wanted me to capture a popcorn kernel at the exact moment it popped!
That would need one of those ridiculously high speed videos....or a ton of luck...since even sound activated would be too late.

But now I wanna see it!

Canon Mark III wide open attached to a strobe. This was for a print ad though. Just had to make a batch of popcorn capturing several kernels as they popped. Normally CG is used for that sort of thing, but this client wanted the real thing. Initial 50 proofs were rejected as were the next 50 and the 50 after that. Two weeks and 3000 shots later, blighter ends up taking the very 1st click!

Just need a good macro and the right aperture and exposure settings. Although, sometimes you can fudge it with a cheap cam by using the zoom feature on manual focus, then cleaning it up in post. Need an animal willing to sit still for a few minutes though. -;)

And an animal that won't take a swipe across my proverbial bow! I do not enjoy when my flatmates invoke their claws clause!

Here's another something that I'd <3 to do someday (and they're less likely to nosh on an Aussie than a saltie would!):
