My reasons for being on this forum, reading the Quran, and wanting to learn as much about my Muslim brothers and sisters can be stated in two words... a name actually....

Malala Yousafzai

In October of 2012 Terrorist tried to assassinate this young woman when she was only fifteen years old. They failed. Today she is one of the most powerful voices for change... especially when it comes to the educating of the worlds 124 million children currently not in school because of natural disaster, extreme poverty, conflict, and WAR.

She is my hero.

Thoughts anyone???

Always sincere....

Agree, She is an inspiration, and her story is both tragic and amazing. She remains faithful and displays herself as a servant of Allah, and pushing for the things that are the most important.

Always an inspiration.

She is one, at least, the media took to itself. Let's hope that relationship remains, although in my experience the popular media is so fickle, and if they run to form the day will come when the same media will turn on her.

Meanwhile I am always inspired by those who make a mark for their beliefs, like the Brahmin guy who dragged a wounded shopper from the mall as gunmen ran amok, and then went back in to get another, because in his mind, his God would expect nothing less. Or the doctor who was holidaying in Vietnam when the SARS epidemic broke, and who happened to be the most authoritative voice on the topic in the world. He isolated himself and his staff in the hospital with the first victims, prevented an outbreak and paid the price.

Or the White Helmets in Syria, or Medicines sans Frontieres ...

I wish nations and individuals would seriously consider her idea about book bombing, which is choosing education over weapons to combat violence.
Ah me ... I remember out Prime Minister David Cameron saying way back, we'd 'bomb Syria with love' ... a nice lie for the PR spin machine ...
