Some of you may have noticed Aussie has not been around lately. He lost his mom and his beloved Nanna Gymea within 2 days of one another and is more than a bit grief-stricken. I never met either, but I feel like I knew both.

Death is a thing, and the closer to home it strikes the harder it is.

Even if one has developed a comfort level life these are trying times....thoughts and prayers to him and his family during these transitions.

...and suddenly there's hope for anew. Aussie tells me that late last night or early this morning depending on your time zone, his sister-in-law gave birth in Australia nearly a month early. An hour later his wife's cousin in California gave birth almost 2 months early! Both are girls and of sufficient weight not to be classed premies. Of course the Aboriginals believe in reincarnation so they are saying Nanna Gymea and Aussie's mom have come back. I tell you, in situations such as this, I'm hard pressed to argue.:)
 
:kitty: delegation present and accounted for. Half are doing recon on the newcomers to Aussie's family while the other half purr their condolences to the rest of the family for their loss, switching in pairs between the two clowders...

Happy Mother's Day to the "new" mothers, too.

My condolences to Aussie for his losses, but also my congratulations that there is new life within the family as well.

Peaks and troughs, though we rarely get them so apparent as Aussie ... pass on my condolences and congratulations.
 
Aussie is doing much better. He says the toughest part of growing older is dealing with the absence of those who have shaped your life and made you the person you are. Then, in the wink of an eye, we are reminding that it is now our turn to shape and nurture the future.

BTW, the sweet little angel on the left in post #11 above is Aussie's wife's new cousin and the one on the right is his new niece. Apparently she was delivered at home by an Aboriginal midwife. Shortly thereafter they got word that his wife's cousin had also just delivered in California. Both little ladies are doing well as are their moms.
