I know there has been a lot of talk on the news today about some worldwide computer virus attack.

When I post replies since last night and continuing today, even with a different web browser, multiple copies of my posts pop up. At first they were sequentially numbered, but the last few have given the same post number, I think in one thread there were at least 5 post #55s back to back. I can't delete, and it won't let me post a blank post. In one thread I was able to edit the first in the string and it did not edit the rest...which I thought really odd.

Let me know if it is me, I know my computer has been having some epileptic fits lately and I spent about 4 hours last night and a couple more this morning running anti-virus and haven't found anything.

I havent posted recently but to me it sounds more like its on the servers end, I don't think the page should receive and publish posts like that under normal operations no matter what signals it got. Not a technician though.
For troublesome PCs, just format it and move on, it will probably save you a lot of frustration in the long run.

Hasn't happened to me lately, but a while back it use to happen while editing posts sometimes. As it turned out, it was indeed a server issue.

I'll chalk it up to a server issue, too. The host announced they're doing a massive upgrade of systems on all their servers. They haven't announced an exact date, but there's a chance we'll notice some new errors developing as they make a leap to a version of PhP that is 2 newer than what they've been running.

Keep me posted if people starting finding other oddities so I can make a list and follow up with the host accordingly. Thanks.

The past few days I've had to refresh pages multiple times to get them to fully load. In the past that's been the precursor for the great error parade...:(

Well, it isn't as bad as I thought, but it is pretty terrible. Unfortunately, I fear that a great error parade is in store for us.

If you tried going to the main interfaith.org page, you'll see that it is down because of missing extensions. I'm working with the host and a techie friend to get that resolved as quickly as possible. But for the short term, we'll only be able to access the forum, not the site itself.

If you would please tell other regulars about this, if you hear from them that they cannot access the forum, I'd appreciate it.

Sorry for the hassle and I appreciate your patience.

Although I haven't posted on this thread before, I'll do my best. If I need to, :kitty: delegates will join the team until everything's back.

One thing that I'm grateful for is that the site wasn't a victim of the "ransomware" that has been running rampant.

Are the pages still suppose to be down because I could access them just now. I had one issue when following a link to the forums but I didn't encounter anything on the pages themselves.

I cobbled together a temporary fix late last night. The pages should be up for the time being. I don't know how long the fix will hold.

As I've said, please keep me posted on errors you all experience. ACOT, thank you for the information.

Once again I am receiving messages that I cannot post. I am at work where the computers and security are far higher than at home. After more than an hour of research and editing thinking maybe the files were too large, I continue to get the messages. I suspect more server issues?

BTW, thank you for the recent fix. I know how such behind the scene things go unnoticed and underappreciated.

I'll talk to the host again. There isn't any scheduled maintenance underway today, but that doesn't mean anything. I'll keep you posted although I bet they're running a skeleton staff over the Memorial Day weekend.

Thank you and you're welcome.

Update, if it helps any.

I logged off here to go home. An hour or two later I came back on my home computer and signed in, and there were my posts in the que ready to post...so I did. Not sure what happened, but that seems odd to me how or why it would do that?

Yeah, that's strange. Have you been able to post from work before?

yes, many times. I had already posted a couple of times earlier. That's what made it seem strange. The one was a long post so I thought maybe I passed the word count or something so I edited down and it still wouldn't take. Then I thought maybe the site I was copying from had a block, so I found another site with similar material and couldn't post it either.

Just a strange afternoon, not only here...

Ok. Thanks for the additional information. Host didn't see anything strange on their end. Let me know if it continues to be an issue.
