Something I read earlier today that I don't know where to put

Anyone watching British politics?

We've hit a new low, and every time we thought we'd gone as low as we could, our Prime Minister shows how to sink lower...
Heck, it is you, us, and Brazil....I can't keep up with which leader is saying/doing t he stupidest things which will affect generations of its citizens to come. I feel for ya!

Ours is impulsive though well-meaning, and the nation has to suffer the consequences, demonetization or lock-down.

Ours is a case of flagrant display of elitism, the disregard of the public, and a policy of lie, then stand by your lies, until the media circus moves on ...

A rather interesting/pertinent article: https://www.yahoo.com/news/chinese-cdc-now-says-coronavirus-224900090.html

Just in case the article is taken down sometime in the future: The Chinese and the CDC don't believe that the Wuhan wet market was where the novel coronavirus originated, but it probably was one of (if not the first) super-spreader event.

Several cities are under curfew (both Milwaukee and Kenosha here in Wisconsin have 8:30 pm [local time] curfews, but I'm not sure about elsewhere.)

The weather sirens have been going off and helicopters are flying over my apartment complex on a rather regular basis (what would happen if severe weather happens during this curfew, especially tornadoes and/or flash floods?)

I read an article about the current situation around the country and a similar situation roughly fifty-one years ago in New York. The one sentence that jumped out at me was, "If you don't believe that Black Lives Matter, don't celebrate Pride Month."

Turns out that the majority of men arrested during the Stonewall riots were PoC.

A truism that I don't know where to post:

A thread/posting about several statues commemorating animals from different countries: https://cheezburger.com/11943429/br...-special-animals-who-deserve-to-be-remembered

A few animals featured are Balto, Secretariat, Hachiko, Laika, and the lab mice in a Novosibirsk lab as well as Winnipeg (the bear that inspired Winnie the Pooh) and Towser (the world record holder for the most mice killed at close to 29,000.)

I just found out that the Standing Rock Sioux have won last Friday or Saturday (Caturday) against the oil firm that is backed by Drumpf, and said oil firm must cease construction. Here's the article: https://news.yahoo.com/victory-sioux-us-court-decision-171109114.html

I thought that at least a few members might be interested.

Florida's largest teachers' union is suing the governor over mandatory school reopening!

Thought StevePame might be mildly interested (as well as other teachers on IO.)

DeVos is about to get educated! She wants/wanted to force schools to open by penalizing school districts that don't/won't open on schedule be withholding crucial funds.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree...

The Leonard Cohen estate is looking into what action to take against the RNC for using Hallelujah after being rejected (the estate might even take legal action!)

Doesn't the RNC realize that Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen has abso-fooking-lutely nothing to do with politics? They just have to listen to the many recordings of the song to get even a fooking inkling of that! Besides that, there are several composers/songwriters/singers/bands in the RNC who could whip something up that is appropriate for the occasion!

Please excuse my rant (the :kitty:s are in the mail.)

This lady spoke eloquently about what she sees/saw around her both before and during the BLM protests:

It's a d@mn shame that private citizens, especially those who are PoC, can't get the same treatment as law enforcement officers or other people in power.

Senator Mitch McConnell wants to have a new Supreme Court justice installed asap (to "replace" Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who passed away due to metistatic pancreatic cancer.)

He's the same jerk who refused to confirm a replacement for Antonin Scalia after he died until the current president was inaugurated. Now that the shoe's on the other foot, he's all "we need to install a new justice now!" He can bloody well wait as everyone else in the country did four years ago.

It is a shame that the United States Supreme Court, which ought to be free of political concerns, is so heavily politicized.
