Is Islam peaceful?

The question is problematic since answering the question in the negative would be counter to interfaith.
I personally think that anything violent and hateful come from humans and not from religion.

Is Christianity or Buddhism peaceful?

If we want to talk about individual instances in Myanmar, or various locations around the world and say they represent all of their religion and not isolated situations we can generalize whatever we like.

Is not the OP about what degree is scriptural authority replete with parameters for violence.

As for Buddhism, there is the whole concept of AHIMSA, non-violence. It is a major dictum that principally sought to stop animal sacrifices of all sorts and a means to dharma and thus a way to transcend the "First Nobel Truth" ['all life is a path of suffering'] And suffering is epitomized by 'samsara' and all sorts of acts of bad-karma.

Certainly Christ and the 12 Apostles enacted paths of non-violence.

Yeah you know well in your religion but I need to know about the Islam coz nowadays most people talk about it so much

Islam and the Quran are used by individuals to incite violence in others... It is warped interpretations that are creating.suicide bombers and the news teams.around.the world.capitalize.on these incidents for.ratings. as.we humans are.drawn to blood and scintillating.stories.

Just as folks used the bible to keep slavery alive in the US and the KKK used it to incite mobs to lynchings.

As for the Buddhist violence in Myanmar, I do not understand it either.

Spend a couple hours taking notes on these TED talks and then tell me what your understanding is....

People say many things. You should ask the people who know the religion best, there are several posts on Islam and violence in the Islamic section of this forum. If you have specific questions that you can't find the answer to there are Muslim posters there that can answer your questions.

Of course, Islam is a peaceful religion. It is the people who have destroyed its meaning.

yes Islam is peaceful. it is only the ignorant Muslims who do not follow qualified Islamic Scholarship that interpret violence into it, otherwise it's only about peace and love restricting martial activity only to a last resort self-defence measure

“In the newspaper you hear so much news. But if you hear something about Krishna, that is the only perfect thing. That news has been published in many morning papers: ‘Krishna,’ ‘the leader of the Krishna movement,’ or ‘this Hare Krishna movement.’ There is some vibration of the word Krishna. That makes the atmosphere purified, surcharged. So many thousands and millions of people will read ‘Krishna,’ willingly or unwillingly. That is their profit. Immediately when they once utter the word Krishna, they become benefited.

“Never mind what is the news. We don’t care for that. But because they will utter the word Krishna, that is their profit, and that is our profit for the Krishna consciousness movement. So, thank you very much.”

The spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, in considering whether articles were worthy for publication, would count how many times the word "Krishna" had been used. If these holy names had been quoted sufficiently, he would say, “That’s all right. This can be used.”

“So, how many times has this man mentioned the word Krishna in the article?”

Caru quickly counted. “Seventeen times.”

“And how many people live in Melbourne?”

“At least a couple of million.”

“So that’s seventeen multiplied by two million times that the holy name of Krishna has been chanted.”

krishna is an idol right???; that's the greatest sin u can do according to Islam!, idol worship, but hey this is interfaith right?, so let's be friends anyway! ☺

"Krishna" I do earnestly presume that this is a "Subject" that you are have not much info. Correct?
You have not studied "Krishna"?
You have known "Krishna"?
You have not seen "Krishna"?
You have not been told about "Krishna"?
You have been hidden from "Krishna"?

If "Krishna" pops up in the conversation one should think, oh, "Supreme Personality of Godhead".

In Bharata-varsa, all the Aryas proclaim this ---even after many moons have past.

Of course. It is like saying to your wife: "I made love to those other women while I had your countenance in my heart and mind"

So she would be jealous and wrathful at such audacious stupid attempt to cheat!

So it is with the countenance of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Only the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself show himself ---he has been there all along the marches of time.

Btw, the world is being made worse as time goes by. It is called the Rat race, daily grind, treadmill, vicious circle, drudgery, battle of life, hard struggle for existence.

After the Supreme Personality of Godhead appeared in the last dynasty of the pre-western world located in Hastinapuri, the warrior caste took over for the Brahmin caste and tried to emulate those past rituals and their wanderlust drove them west [1] --and further west [2], ---and again further west [3], ---and still again further west [4-8] ...

And then The old world claimed India the Crown Jewel!

Sorry for the friction. I sought to dove-tale with the OP with my historical tact. I don't see adding more except if there were queries to me. I'll comply to where the thread is put. I bow out here.

I'm not trying to discourage your discussion and apologize that I wasn't clearer in my first message. I'm simply saying that I think even with your efforts to dove-tale, this is starting to broach into a broader topic that doesn't fit this thread.
