Why do religions exist?

I hope that no one be offended by this thread, but it must be asked.
I am still researching and trying to make sense of what religion has caused people.
It has caused war's,and people sanity even people's lives, but I m still puzzled by how all these religious text power is centered from faith and beliefs.
You can't question anything or seek truth without being roasted in the hereafter.

Contrary to what many people believe I tend to lean towards an idea where my faith is in an omnipotent God of unconditional love who allows everyone through the gates of Heaven to experience eternal heavenly bliss regardless of our Earthly sins or how we practiced or not practiced our religion. When we die everyone has the opportunity to "go into the light" and experience God's infinite beauty and perfection. A God of unconditional love does not reject any part of His creation based on a set of conditions. Maybe my faith is just stronger than most people and I will be proven wrong. Or maybe I am just not seeking revenge against anyone and I just do not take pleasure in the idea some people might suffer for all eternity. I like the idea everyone is just saved just by showing up!

The idea religion has caused war or is the source of human suffering cannot be more wrong. If religion did not exist at all in the World there would be just as many wars, killings, and senseless acts of violence. Religion is not the source of all that is evil in the World. Poverty and imperfections in human character are the cause. If religion did not exist at all there would be just as many people killing each other over adultery. Just as many people living in poverty who snap because they become desperate. Just as many wars for profit. Just as many leaders jockeying to have power over other leaders at any expense. Religion does not cause war.

The purpose of religion is to answer the four great existential questions:

1. Who am I?
2. Why am I here?
3. What does it all mean?
4. What is going to happen to me when I die?

For many people, these questions create huge problems. The purpose of religion is to provide answers to these questions so people don't panic with fear. Better quality religions answer these questions in such a way people live happy productive lives with enthusiasm and with moral rectitude.

So is it safe to say that you believe suffering only exists in this worldly life ?

Ah, the apocatastasis, the Doctrine That Dare Not Speak Its Name.

I agree.

The only thing that will keep us apart from God is our rejection of Him.

I do hold the idea that each will receive his/her reward accordingly, that 'My Father's house has many mansions' (John 14:2) and we will be accorded accommodation, 'some a hundredfold, some sixty and some thirty' (cf Matthew 13:23), each according to his/her nature, and each will be happy accordingly ...

I live in New Jersey. There is only Heaven.

But serious, life is suffering. Everyone suffers enough just by being here.

I’m curious dfnj2019 -

does this idea of no suffering after death come from an organized belief system, did you get from another person or is it a personal conclusion you have reached through study and/or reflection ?

I tend to ignore the other Buddhas. I would say it is a personal conclusion. I think when we die we go into the light and experience God's infinite beauty the last few nanoseconds of our brain activity. It's only a few nanoseconds but our perception of it is it lasts for all eternity. When we experience God's infinite beauty it is the greatest possible experience we could possibly ever have.

But I don't think any of us actually dies anyway. We did not invent sex it is just part of who we are. The same is true about every aspect of human character. What we think is unique to ourselves actually exists in millions of other people. Everything we love and hold dear about our lives continues to exist in other people's experiences. So as long as the human race continues to survive we all live on in other people.

Once you accept this idea that your own ego is a delusion then you are reborn to a different experience of humanity. There is less of need to be obsessed with accomplishment when we can have trust in other people who share our way of thinking succeeding with whatever it is we think is important.

See Ahanu - another example

Well, universal salvation doesn't necessarily teach there is no suffering at all after death . . . but that all will eventually be saved.

Ah, the apocatastasis, the Doctrine That Dare Not Speak Its Name.

Your source states the doctrine of apokatastasis was first taught by Origen and Clement of Alexandria:

The doctrine, then, was first taught by Origen, and by Clement of Alexandria,

Really? o_O

When in meditation, I move through expanses of space to find people standing around doing nothing, I call these yourselves. Minds move over these fields highlighting them to show me who they are. I mostly see only a silhouette of the person and then can move into to them to find their minds and see that many of them have time remaining in them. This always reminds me of the bible when it says that no one will become something until Jesus returns. I move through timelines vibrations observing many layers of time, I think if anyone is to become something again after this lifetime the timelines need to merge. I was told of the time when god become nothing here and that was when no one ever became something again after that time. I believe no one has become something again and again for millions of years, all those before us just becoming nothing inside of themselves to become nothing again. I also know that some do become something with what they call time remaining this is time gained in your lifetimes and gives many the ability to figure things out.

Why religions it is because of something I call loosh perhaps. We all have five minds and inside of those five minds are five more minds per mind and inside of those minds five more and so on five times. I am not sure how to insert images yet but to understand this idea of many minds you can look up the book (The secret of the golden flower) an image of this is located here on this site https://www.healingenergytools.com/secret-golden-flower/ . From my understanding there are doorways here that one can cross over to become themselves here not through birth. This crossing will mean that you can not figure yourself out you forget everything about yourself. Information was inserted into your other minds to allow you to figure things out sooner and through time become yourself again. I believe the minds contained the necessary evils, or the seven deadly sins with you in the middle of these minds. It is how you become yourself to be unique as we become something like these minds the more you feed the dog the more it becomes you. The loosh part is you are standing in the woods with your family and a bear is moving towards you what do you do? Save yourself, sacrifice yourself or sacrifice someone else and save the others. I think religions was our way of balancing out loosh to understand our sins and to forgive ourselves. I think religions found time because they helped us move past moments in our lives to better understand things we do not understand.

Loosh is such a great word! It reminds me of my first wife. She was a black hole of emotional need sucking the life energy out of everyone she met. I'm actually quite astonished I survived my first marriage.

To answer your question you kiss your mother on the cheek. Your bear reminds me of the following story:

"A man traveling across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself down over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him. Above him, he noticed two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. Just then, the man saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted!"

The language of your secret golden flower was too flowery for me. I think we have all identical minds but with different life experiences. None of us really dies because whatever it is we think is beloved about our own characters lives on in millions of other people. Each of us is more like strands of the same wind flowing over the Earth. The wind is here and there sometimes gusty and sometimes zephyr like.

Your comment "all will eventually be saved" reminds me of one of my ideas about what happens after you die. See the section below in bold:

I have an idea that when you die you have the opportunity to go into the light and experience God's infinite beauty. We become so enamored by God's infinite beauty time ceases to exist. We melt into God's mind experiencing eternal heavenly bliss. Experiencing the face of God in all it's infinite beauty is the greatest possible experience by definition. Nothing is more penetrating into our core being of experience than experiencing God's infinite beauty. You will experience the greatest possible depth of feeling of unity and oneness with the utter total complete perfection that is God. Why would you ever want to continue to experience time after experiencing God's infinite beauty?

For whatever reason, which is kind of mind boggling in a way, some people choose to turn away from going into the light and experiencing God's infinite beauty. The most compelling reason why someone would turn away is each of us is our own greatest critic. God's infinite beauty and light is a mirror showing us the very worse aspects of our own character. It's only when we are capable of loving ourselves in spite of all our own imperfections that we are capable of not being driven away by the demons of our own creation.

For people who turn away from God there are two paths. One is the short path. One is the long path. First, we will start with the long path. With the long path, after your turn away from God, you choose not to participate with what you are experiencing. This is a very nihilistic way of being. At that moment the person chooses to turn away from God and stop participating with the Universe in a kind of suicidal rage against being itself, the person is immediately given the power of being omnipotent.

Now some of you may be thinking, gee, you die, you turn away from God, you make blasphemy against all of existence by choosing to be a nihilist, and you get rewarded with the power of having omnipotence. This may sound unfair if your heart is immature and you take pleasure at the thought of sinners suffering. Or maybe your heart is full of hate and you are seeking revenge against people who have sinned against you. Or maybe you are jealous and envious of someone else having more power than you do. But from our omnipotent all-loving God's perspective, our God of unconditional love, what better way to win over someone you love so absolutely and completely than to perfectly give them everything their heart desires. The real sad thing is why would you ever waste any time at all with petty profane desires when you can be looking into the face of God basking in the glow of heavenly eternal bliss. Nothing we can imagine could ever come close to experiencing God's infinite beauty.

Now at first having omnipotent powers may sound like a really good thing. But after millions and millions of years, or what just seems like millions of years, which is only nanoseconds real time, living out all your petty profane desires and imaginations you will become extremely bored. Your mind will have exhausted every possible thing it is capable of imagining. Every possible conceivable scenario of experience you are capable of imagining will have been played out millions of times over. After having sex with two chicks 10,000 times is probably enough. Eventually you will decide there's no point in turning away from God any longer. You will decide with having absolutely nothing left worthwhile to do you will turn back and look into the face of God. However, this time you don't look away. All the reasons forcing you look away before have been resolved during your stint with having omnipotent powers. And just after you look into the face of God you have a very brief thought where you think, “What the heck was I thinking when I turned away the first time?” Time will then cease to exist and you experience eternal heavenly bliss.

Or, instead of choosing the long path, you may choose the short path back to God. Short path is based on what happens to you in the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Essentially, what happens after you turn away from God, is you go down a path towards reincarnation. This is not an easy path to travel down. All along the way there are demons that get created based on who you were in life that are the exact manifestations of everything you would find to be the most terrifying or would cause you the most suffering imaginable. After each encounter you will have a moment or two to find peace and forgiveness from within and choose to finally turn back into the light and face God directly. However, if you continue to decide to turn away from God you will face every possible demon you could possibly suffer from experiencing until you are reincarnated to someone living in New Jersey. When you live in New Jersey there is only Heaven. And the endless cycle of life, suffering, death, and rebirth in New Jersey continues until you finally learn or decide how to appreciate God with the greatest possible faith imaginable and have absolute reverence for God, God's creation (including New Jersey), other people, people living in New Jersey, and yourself.

I've met a lot of people who do yoga. It's funny how people who are really into yoga talk about some crazy position that they do. "I can do a one-handed Mayurasana" or some such things. I have to laugh a bit because I am overweight and I have severe arthritis so my bone joints of my body are like concrete. So my best yoga position is sitting in a chair. But my mind is in the right place!

I am not sure your story grasps the idea behind loosh so to speak. It is fight or flight, the coward or the hero. You have seen the images of the Annunaki where there is an angel standing behind a man, and the angel is holding what appears to be a pine cone and is wearing what also appears to be a watch, there is an image here. http://www.annunaki.org/the-annunaki-in-the-bible/ The angel is not in this timeline he is in another timeline teaching himself how to become something here. You see if the angel was to cross over to find time here he would not be able to figure himself out again. the angel can however create himself from time leftover to become himself here then teach himself anything he needs to. the watch tells the angel how much time he has to teach himself before he runs out of time and is trapped in nothing. I have seen these pine cones up close and they hold their time inside of them.

Loosh was used to help minds coming across to understand themselves to have a fighting chance to create unique experiences from minds that could not figure themselves out after crossing. I can see only one other reason for this other then to cross over and that is himself (alpha). Every mind that cannot become something again will enter into himself (alpha) and then enter into the same mind over and over again. This would mean that millions of men will enter into one mind stacked so to speak evolving together the same for woman and all creatures. characteristics that have more time would be inherited over characteristics with less time everyone would be the same evolving to be the one with the most time, such is evolution.

You have never seen a mind or how it allows you to become something again so the golden flower is the best representation of this I can find. As for the soul, it is not timeless, it can die and is possible that it will never remember itself a blank slate of nothingness. I call these minds ME's, they are minds that have been reprogrammed and retaught to become something else, it is like the human part is over written and new information is inserted, you could never become a person again. The mind flowing over earth many strands, I am unsure what to think of this I find many minds together even thousands all connected and twisted together to form thoughts and to find time together but it is not part of everything they are only part of themselves.

Thanks for the link.

No it is not earned like that. If you were to live 100 years you would get two thirds of that time to figure yourself out or some might say spend time in heaven. Your time is based off your body and longevity every cell in your body is time the longer you live the more time you have left over. I think of this like the movie "In Time" You get only so much time until you have to be reborn again it requires five lifetimes to become something all the time. I do no believe that Christ or god will be standing there to greet you and to insure you figure yourself out you see it is this problem that keeps us here. I would almost go to say that the after life challenges us to figure it out. What if your god or christ would not come here to figure us out unless we become ourselves many times and could figure ourselves out. Seven billion people, hundreds of religions and no hope in sight of unifying our thoughts, I would say we will not be seeing either of them anytime soon.
