Why do religions exist?

I've met a lot of people who do yoga. It's funny how people who are really into yoga talk about some crazy position that they do. "I can do a one-handed Mayurasana" or some such things. I have to laugh a bit because I am overweight and I have severe arthritis so my bone joints of my body are like concrete. So my best yoga position is sitting in a chair. But my mind is in the right place!
Ouch! Arthritis sucks.

But Taoist yoga is not about physical body postures. The cross-legged sitting position is the only similarity. I don't practice it myself. But it is the yoga system of 'The Secret of the Golden Flower'.

In a sense the soul has to be earned?
No it is not earned like that
Ok. I knew 'earned' was the wrong word. More in the sense that we have to 'grow' a soul ...

Ido no believe that Christ or god will be standing there to greet you and to insure you

I do not believe that either. But there are guiding angels. Minds that have become 'something', in your way of explanation.

Christ isn't Jesus' surname. The Christ is God (alpha) expressed as man. To guide man to God. The mystery is the Cross. A great mystery indeed. I haven't found a single human yet whose wisdom I prefer to his.

I am not sure your story grasps the idea behind loosh so to speak. It is fight or flight, the coward or the hero. You have seen the images of the Annunaki where there is an angel standing behind a man, and the angel is holding what appears to be a pine cone and is wearing what also appears to be a watch, there is an image here. http://www.annunaki.org/the-annunaki-in-the-bible/ The angel is not in this timeline he is in another timeline teaching himself how to become something here. You see if the angel was to cross over to find time here he would not be able to figure himself out again. the angel can however create himself from time leftover to become himself here then teach himself anything he needs to. the watch tells the angel how much time he has to teach himself before he runs out of time and is trapped in nothing. I have seen these pine cones up close and they hold their time inside of them.

Loosh was used to help minds coming across to understand themselves to have a fighting chance to create unique experiences from minds that could not figure themselves out after crossing. I can see only one other reason for this other then to cross over and that is himself (alpha). Every mind that cannot become something again will enter into himself (alpha) and then enter into the same mind over and over again. This would mean that millions of men will enter into one mind stacked so to speak evolving together the same for woman and all creatures. characteristics that have more time would be inherited over characteristics with less time everyone would be the same evolving to be the one with the most time, such is evolution.

You have never seen a mind or how it allows you to become something again so the golden flower is the best representation of this I can find. As for the soul, it is not timeless, it can die and is possible that it will never remember itself a blank slate of nothingness. I call these minds ME's, they are minds that have been reprogrammed and retaught to become something else, it is like the human part is over written and new information is inserted, you could never become a person again. The mind flowing over earth many strands, I am unsure what to think of this I find many minds together even thousands all connected and twisted together to form thoughts and to find time together but it is not part of everything they are only part of themselves.

Powessy

You get only so much time until you have to be reborn again it requires five lifetimes to become something all the time.
Interesting stuff.

The majority of yoga positions, asanas, are quite recent. They're proliferating at the moment under the impetus of social media. There are periodic bursts of activity that coincide with the general popularity of yoga.

So really there's a need to discern between yoga as an authentic spiritual practice, yoga as a psychodynamic practice with perceived spiritual (ie 'feelgood') benefits, yoga as exercise ...

Speaking of the purpose of religion, Friedrich Nietzsche had some acute criticisms of Christianity. He said Christianity was born in response to Roman oppression. It took hold in the minds of timid slaves who did not have the courage or strength to take what they really wanted. The slaves could not admit to their own failings. So they clung to a philosophy that made virtue of cowardice. Everything the Christians wanted and wished they had in their lives for fulfillment was considered to be a sin. A position in the world, prestige, good sex, intellectual mastery, personal wealth were too difficult or beyond their reach. The Christian slaves created a hypocritical creed denouncing what they really wanted but were incapable of achieving while praising what they did not want was being virtuous. So in the Christian value system sexlessness turned into 'purity', weakness became "goodness," submission to authority became "obedience," and in Nietzsche's words, "not-being-able-take-revenge" turned into "forgiveness." A Christian slave was too weak to have any personal voice and was only capable of bending a knee to whoever was in authority.

So with this way of thinking about Christianity, the purpose of the religion was to make the slaves feel good about their lives in spite of being slaves.

“Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel.” (1 Peter 2:18)

Oh, so Nietzche is the main authority on the origins of Christianity?

So let me ask you question. What is more important. What is being said or who is saying it?
I mean, a lot of people have written about it. Do you find Nietzche's opinion the most compelling? Do you regard Nietzche the main authority on the subject?

I think for myself. I first consider what someone is saying before I start attacking the person as not being qualified to be someone in authority. Generally, at least for me, authority has nothing to do with it. I'm not looking to be lead.

Ok, at risk of labouring the point, let's put it this way: many thousands of writers and thinkers have expressed opinions on the subject over 2000 years, so why for you does Frederick Neitzche's opinion trump over all the others?

(I've a feeling you and I might have to part ways quite soon.)

But, "man is a rope", leading from animal to Übermensch or something to that effect, according to Nietzsche's Zarathustra, right? Always preaching, while someone else does the actual acrobatics.

... Nietzsche introduced his concept of will to power in § 2. He defined the concepts of good, bad and happiness in relation to the will to power. "What is good? — All that heightens the feeling of power, the will to power, power itself in man. What is bad? — All that proceeds from weakness. What is happiness? — The feeling that power increases — that a resistance is overcome."

Nietzsche's words were provocative and shocking in passages such as: "The weak and ill–constituted shall perish: first principle of our philanthropy. And one shall help them to do so. What is more harmful than any vice? — Active sympathy for the ill–constituted and weak ...

Anton La Vey? A bit of it. And quite a bit of Crowley, when I was younger. But life's too short and my reading time is limited, lol ...

He's your man not mine.

It is amazing how popular nihilism is around the World. The main problem with the existentialists is not only is life meaningless, but it is meaningless that it is meaningless. Nietzsche and his friends problem is they lived their lives thinking it all is meaningless really meant something. If it's meaningless it is meaningless then you can be the ultimate nihilist and choose life is meaningful because what difference does it make.

Ever read the Satanic Bible ?

It's hard enough to believe in God let alone Satan. Besides, God created us and Satan with imperfections. God is the only God who is perfect, whole, and complete without any needs or desires. Why would you worship any lesser god?

Anton's Satanism is not theistic - Satan is a symbol and Anton is quoted as saying "Satanism is about study not worship"

Crowley is best read at a younger age. :)
Yes, I read his autobiography, amongst other stuff. It's hard not to respect Aleister Crowley. He was not really profane, in the sense of trampling on what is holy -- of despising goodness and grace. He never really did that.

He was devoted to The Sacred Magic of Abra Melin the Mage, and although he rebelled against the Victorian mentality of his own time, he worked extremely hard. He was similar to Byron: a brooding rebel but true to his own heart.

I find Crowley far too complicated nowadays, enmeshed in far too much stuff. But he holds my respect. Unlike a couple of the other writers and thinkers mentioned in this thread.
