And happy winter solstice, which was on the Sunday before Christmas. I met with some friends to watch the sunrise over the sea, though it was very cloudy so we didn't see much! The summer solstice was very nice though, around a hundred people gathered where I was.

greetings. in india, it is uttarayana, auspicious period, when sun moves north.

but there is a difference. we celebrate it on january 15 in 2024 on 'makar sankranti', new year day in some indian calendars. we messed it up while changing the calendar from asterism system to the zodiac system probably in 6th century, bhaskaracharya I.
