Where's Wil?

There you are!

So, off gadding about with your pals and no thought for your poor folks here at IO. I've a good mind to ground you for a week. No, a month!

Now go and tidy your room.

:)D Good burn?)

I left Wednesday for a burn, we built a thing, we burnt it.
Well, take your phone next time. We all get worried about you ...

WIL! *pounce*

*wil finds himself under a pile of :kitty's, only the tips of his fingers poking through the furry bodies. Several :kitty: fights break out over differing purrspectives on the same topics*

lol, thx. Ifi I remember I'll update this thread before I leave, my phone rarely leaves my backpack...immediacy, participation are a couple of principles of burning....basically living in the moment.

The heat and exertion were a bit much for me, I slept a lot, and when I wandered I'd stop at camps and nap in their shade..

It was excellent. For years this burn was 10 hours south in a rain forest...it out grew its property with 3000 tickets selling out in a day.. Second year at a new location 10 hours north and we had almost 2k on a property that will handle 10x that... A video of the old site..as I find new stuff I'll show you this burn. This is the last temple we built at the old site, and last years effigy at the new one.

Epic!

My late father-in-law was a shaman and earth magician who performed rituals at the East Anglian fairs back in the day:

Part of the Earth Goddess ritual.

My daughters grew up attending grandad's annual Summer Solstice parties, which involved a bonfire, songs, performances, a purification ritual, a candle-lit maze-walk, the firing of a burning arrow into a large rotating sunwheel and a firework display ...

I know a little about you and your wife's common journey, and it doesn't seem like she came from the Catholic path! Without getting to personal, I'm curious as to where she sort of landed, or if religion is very important to her? I don't mind if you don't with to speak to that!

LOL, no. No-no-no. Catholicism is perhaps the thing we do not discuss. Or we do, and sparks fly. For me its all about what Catholicism says, for her it's all about what Catholicism does ...

Religion's not a thing for her ...

I was non-practicing when we met, but she was aware of my background and my sensibilities. She once told me: 'You're more Buddhist than you care to admit'. Catholicism came after reading texts by the Traditionalists (René Guénon, Frithjof Schuon, Marco Pallis). She was fine with my engagement, but didn't want our girls educated in a Catholic environment, too many crucifixes! What a bloodthirsty image to present young children ... Nor do our views coincide with the ideas of a Catholic education.

I had a full time job but the company went bust. I went freelance and she said, "Now you can do your degree" meaning theology. It's all her fault!

Not to say she's not 'spiritual' (she'd argue with the term). She's an artist, with a degree from Central St Martin's, one of the top art schools in the country, heavy into conceptual thinking.

Lol, she is here as in alive, but with me, nope, married for 20 years, she traded me in 20 years ago now...she was at my bedside fighting with the docs and nurses for my care in the hospital tho... My mother reports that she came out of the ICU laughing once (during the two weeks I have of lost memory) and said that I asked, "Why didn't you treat me this good when we were married?"

I've always been amazed at how you separate the rubber from the road.
Intentions are nice, but outcomes are everything.
The way I see it ... what Catholicism says is all about what it is, what it does is all about man, his shortcomings and his fallibilities.

Same for any religion, really. Same for any ideology.

It's a finger and moon thing.

But where's his pants?
Not unlike other artists I have known, Bruce never outgrew the little boy's fascination with willies.

One of my memories involved a rather handsome woman — there were always women around Bruce — who was his 'lady of the lake' in a performance that required them both (?) to emerge from the waters (the lake in question was little more than a pond, but quality, not quantity, right?). Bruce was starkers, as per, and she was in a very diaphanous and transparent dress. Both of them climbed aboard his Norton Commando motorcycle and rode off roughly in the direction of the sunset ... Hysterical, as naked motorcycling is not something I would advise even a skilled rider, let alone a grown man who was reliving his childhood! And mind your ankles on that exhaust!
